Rojer's 200T

Picked up today from @charltjr It's actually tidier in person than I expected. The colour is beautiful in the sun, in photos it tends to look a bit washed out, but in person it really pops. So far I'm really impressed with it. It's everything I hoped my Fiesta ST was going to be. The Clio has a much better driving position, its very comfortable and the auto box is smooth and quick. Took it for a quick blast down some local lanes and its awesome. Steering is great, tons of grip, brakes are good, even the interior is creak and rattle free. I really don't understand the hate these cars got. I don't mind the paddles, but they desperatley need to be extended. If anyone has some good options that are not the Life110 ones, let me know!

Couple of jobs on the list. It could do with alignment and probably brake fluid as John did everything else. The handbrake is rubbish so that needs adjusting. I need to remove the other stupid diffuser stick on extender thing and the horrible carbon wrap on the front badge and fit the aux belt kit. Other than than it would be good to smoke test it and upgrade the screen if possible to a later one with android auto. If anyone could point me in the right direction, that would be great.

Had an hour after work so wanted to make a start on a few jobs. First thing to go was the stupid diffuser extenders. Looks much better without them!

Next on the list was to investigate the poor handbrake. Thanks to a lovely video from @Adey. I had access in no time. Unfortunetly it wasn't just a case of tighening it up. Either the caliper has seized or the cable has snapped. Couldn't get it to move in or out. Further investigation required.

After melting in the heat and putting it back together, I decided to plug in the code reader and have a poke around. No faults in the engine or gearbox and a few old/random faults in other modules. I wanted to have a look at the AC and it came back with the following code. If I cleared it, it just came back.

Went into the engine bay and 0 gas in the AC system so no doubt it has a leak and potenitally the control panel needs replacing. Next job was to take off the horrible carbon wrap. I knew it was there for a reason and sure enough the badge is broken. Can you buy a new badge seperatly?

Finally I did a few smaller jobs. Removed the boost solenoid and gave it a rinse with brake cleaner. Topped up the oil and had a general look around. It has the old style brake reservoir cap, so I will order the updated one. This pipe is going to need replacing and looks like its the best part of £300 from Renault :( It also has an interesting jublie clip with a tap style adjuster lol so I doubt that's factory.

Had a look at the aux belt and that looks like it needs to be done sooner rather than later, also not sure if the downpipe has been messed with as that doesn't look like a factory bolt/one is missing.

Overall nothing too serious to sort out and things like this are to be expected on a cheap car. I will get these bits sorted and go from there.

Done some digging through the parts diagrams and ordered a couple of bits.

Looks like there is an o ring on the cold side boost pipe so I have ordered that as a precaution. Number 37 part number for ref 7701071316. Also ordered a new badge 628909470R.

Looks like I'm missing a heatshield on the downpipe (208501KC0A) and that missing bolt just holds the heatshield on so no real dramas. That odd looking bolt should be a nut though so I'm guessing someone changed the downpipe at some point and snapped the stud and just used a bolt instead. I will need to take a proper look at that.

I think from memory I just swapped over the seal from my old pipe, that said, it doesn't fit very well and leaked on mine when smoke tested. I also haven't tried it with a new seal so it could just need that. Instead I shimmed it with a little coke can behind to improve the squeeze. Now you've reminded me ill order a new seal :D

Nice pick up. Genuinely one of the best cars I’ve owned and would have another in a heart beat! I fitted one of the metal hot side pipes as well, purely because it’s not a case of if it fails and more when it fails. I’m sure I used the original seal with mine and it was ok but for the cost of a new one it’s worth changing.
I also fitted a 220 intake (numbers 10 and 11) that I managed to get second hand. Felt like it made a difference, and in fact there was a company or someone who was selling them new.
