Hi, i know that the 172 has a sticker on the inside of the driver door and a little plaque on the dashboard with the chassis number, but does anyone know if there is also a number stamped into the metal of the chassis anywhere? Just having a sticker and a plaque on the dash would seem far too...
Id ask the seller why the car is Cat D registered, then do a vehicle check to make sure the story they give you checks out. Insurance wont be a problem. Tell them just so youve covered your back and only insure it for what you paid for it. They wont charge you any more, and any main insurer will...
Either stolen recovered or damage repaired. Basically means its been written off by an insurance company but still ok for use on the road.
If youre looking at getting a Cat D registered car, get it checked out to make sure its been repaired properly and make sure you also get 20 to 30% off...
Filled up on Monday and only driven the car (mk2 172) in heavy traffic to and from work. Averaged 14mph and 23mpg, and the trip computer likes to lie a little bit, so more like 21mpg. Still better than my MG ZS which would only manage 16mpg in the same traffic! Any car can do 0mpg when not...
Been meaning to fit the clear side repeaters that Ive got and Ive also added some silvervisions since this pic, so no you need white repeaters and silvervisions comments please ;)

Agree...
I think if I can fit it as far back as on Days picture and then spray the box (but not the pipes) with high temp black paint that I just happen to have a can of itll look ok. Its gotta be better than driving round with half the exhaust missing like I am at the moment :D

Agree that it would look better cut in, but dont want to irreversibley butcher the car. Going to have the same...
Funny how they look different sizes on different pics. That one that gt_gaz has posted they look tiny!
Any tips for getting it fitted as close to the bumper as that? Im going to fit it myself, but never done a full system before, just a decat.
51 plate 172 on 24k miles. Doesnt feel anywhere near as quick as my old mk1 did when i sold it on 36k miles, but that didnt really start to feel quick until 30k miles.
Damn, looks a fair bit bigger than I expected! Might have to paint the back box bit black so its not so noticeable. Shame they dont do it in 3" as well, would look a bit more subtle. Cheers for the pics!
Dont suppose anyone has a pic of a twin 3.5" magnex or similar on a black mk2 172? Looks like my quest for a replacement exhaust is over and Im curious how itll look :) If anyone has a pic could they post it?
Quote: I want some nice wheels on it
Could do a lot worse than Cup wheels - people always seem to be selling them on here:

Just bought that car & wheels in the pic a couple of weeks ago. Met you out at Ladybower with m@thew...
Ive misplaced the Renault service book for my mk2 172. Cant find it anywhere. The servicing was carried out be the previous owners and on phoning my local dealer to see if they could get me a copy, they said Id need to know which dealer it was serviced at. Does anyone know if Renault UK have...

Its difficult to "fix" something thats not a fault! :confused...
No ESP on either of mine. First was an 02 plate, new one is a 51 plate. Put mk2 springs on the mk1 and it improved things, but the mk2 has quite a different feel to it.
I did have a titanium mk1 172 straight after having a blue mk2 172. Now Ive got a black mk2. imho the mk1 was a bit faster than the mk2s but i have much more faith in the handling of the mk2s.

No idea yet, pick it up on Saturday! Felt about the same to drive as the mk2 172 i bought new 3 years ago and a lot better than the mk1 I had more recently. Will need new tyres immediately though as its still on the original...
Just bought a mk2 172 myself and I found that there were alot of cars very similar to the one that I ended up buying at much higher asking prices that I ended up paying. I watched about 20 auctions on ebay and then targetted a couple of people who I got a feeling might take a low offer, and one...
Thats been for sale for absolutely ages. Saw it last year in a copy of autotrader in the salvage section and again in early may of this year. Always puts immaculate condition prior to crash. Kind of stating the obvious i think...!
