have seen this problem alot on the clio mk1s, mainly valvers,
have removed many snapped bolts and most have been done after a visit to a local tyre fitters, when they do them up with a nut gun,
they are usually easy to get out as they have quite a course pitch on the thread,
just remeber...
here goes,
Do tyres make any contribution to body roll?
tyres do not affect body roll, only spring stiffness and damper rebound can change this, but lower profile tyres will give more feeling into the body of the car because there is less give in the wall of the tyre, will notice it more...
i believe renault price for 16v/williams 1/4 panels are around £250 plus vat, you could try one of your local motor factor suppliers for a pattern part,
hope this helps
Hi chris,
have lowered many clio rts with 17s, so far havnt come across any real problems, other than a small amount of rubbung on the inner front arches, which happens with 15s anyway, pi springs were used and they were a drop of 55mm,
hope this helps
Dave
it all depaends on what make of springs you use!
usually with 16" wheels with 55mm lowering springs the front wheels will sit a little under the wings the edge of the wing should sit on the top of the wheel and you should not see any tyre at the top,
Dave
i do have a mk1 clio, they can be a bugger to get sitting right,
make sure it is sitting flush with the quater panel, if i remember rightly the lexus style lights actually use genuine backings off the light unit so they should fit pretty good
have you checked that the lights have been located properly behind the 2 lugs behind the bumper, if these are not in, the unit will not fit right,
good kuck and hope you sort it
Dave
now theres is a confident man(steve) who must have small hands to do the uj bolt up,lol
steve is right , its not too difficult,
this seems to be a common problem with the valver
we specialise in the clio/gtt conversion and have done a few valver, within the conversion you loose the power...
the gtt lump isnt designed for top end( you would of left everybody standing by the time you hit 100mph, on a private road)
as for 0-60 times,
with a std gtt engine in a clio running 10psi it will out class a clio16v 0-100
dave
that engine less the turbo and chromed bits is priced at £1960 less your 10% discount for being a club member!
as for conversion prices!
our std labour price to club members is £1000 (normally £1250)
plus you will have to find a donar 5gtt, either an mot faliure or smashed one, and then...
you can go 35mm on the front, which is actually 55mm lower than an rt! on 15s you will need 45 profile tyres, the 16v is good cause of the wider arches so there is more room to play with, but the idea is to get the center of gravity down but not too hard, too hard and you will loose all grip in...
Thanks chaps!
power is unknown yet and am not gonna guess, hope to see it near the 300bhp mark!
had the car on the rollers over in kent in june and saw 206bhp at the wheels, and that was on 21psi, t3 roller bearing turbo,chargecooler,l/b bottom end and wait for it! a standard cam!, also used...
new year is here so a new engine for our demo cliogtt is going in, more mods and more power for a new year!
wishing everybody a happy new year!

you said you have the spiggot rings on the hubs! vibration through the wheels can be caused by inproper alignment when tightening the bolts, always good to do bolts up evenly and opposite each other so they line up in the countersunk holes in the whell properly,
but my guess is that you need...
Hi,
sounds like iit is your alternator not giving enough charge! check all your earth points first and you battery connections, if it still does the same you know you have an alternator problem,
is the battery light brighter at higher revs?
check what voltage you battery is getting with...
Dean is right the key hole for the alarm is in the same conpartment as the washer bottle,
have a word with your local renault parts department, give them your chassis number and oval plate number and they should(if someone done their paper work right when the car was registered) be able to get...
Hi
from what you have said i would put bets on it being the ariel, sometimes this can get knocked in a car wash and break the seal as they only have a peice of rubber around it,
best thing to do is take your interia light unit out and you will see the screw, undo the areil and put a small...
personally i would use "PI" springs for your clio,
we swear by these springs as they have always given the drop that the product states, we have done a lot of testing with theses springs and found they give the best performance for your money. whilst not depriving quality!
we find that...
Hi creedy,
there are many ways to go regarding modifying you car,
firstly! which area do you wish to modify? and what is your budget?
if its engine wise then maybe a conversion!
here at torsion tuning we pride ourselfs on our conversions for the clio, having done numerous clio/gtts and...
