trouble with battery

battery light keep flashing now and again and somtimes not all the time i have got a flat battery is the alternater f**ked ,connection bad or battery f**ked thanks for any advice has anyone had simmilar probs

Hi,

sounds like iit is your alternator not giving enough charge! check all your earth points first and you battery connections, if it still does the same you know you have an alternator problem,

is the battery light brighter at higher revs?

check what voltage you battery is getting with the car running at idle, you should see between 13.5 and 14.5 volts,

also check the charging rate with electrical consumers on(lights,hrw etc)to make sure the alternator can compensate for drains on the battery.
