I forgot to say that I have had new driveshaft, water pump, alt, aux belt on mine and the garage that did the work said it would pass an mot first time in current condition. Perhaps ill just treat it to a bit of paintwork and new rear brakes to make me feel like it is newer!
I can see your point. I just worry that with the mileage I do (around 10k a year) I will be at 100K before I know it. Hopefully if i service regularly it will last beyond 100k though. I do prefer black to silver though and have just fitted a skoda splitter which looks ace!
Hi there,
I currently own a 02 reg black 172 80,000 miles fsh, belts changed etc. An opportunity has come up via a colleague to swap my car (or sell privately and make up the difference) for a 04 reg 172 50,000 miles, no cambelt change. It needs some cosmetic work on the front bumper and has...
Mk1 Ph2 1.8 16v Valuation
How much do you feel a M reg 1995 williams blue mk1 ph2 valver with approx 110,000 miles is worth these days? I used it as my daily drive in 2005-2006 but it has been stood at my folks house ever since. All it needs is an mot and is in good nick inside and out.
Yeah I have searched. I dont think it is a shock or spring - it sounds more like a mount or bush as you said. Ill get garage number three to take a look at the same time as my mount knock!
My rear suspension has started to squeek when over bumps or when being jacked up. Would this be the shock or spring (or both)? How much am i looking at for parts and is it worth getting a budget coilver kit instead?
My gearknob has started rattling when I rev. It seems to be coming from inside the actual knob. When i investigated I broke the plastic gaitor (doh) so need a new one of those too. Any ideas/offers?
Right had the car looked at by a garage. It looks like the clutch release bearing is the slight ticking noise. They said the knock wasnt an engine or gearbox mount after checking them all and decided it was the backbox mount. I have changed the mount and the knock remains. It only happens when...
The rattle can be heard from under the passenger side wheel arch and between the engine and batter (general gearbox area) when on idle and through 1st to 2nd. Is this likely to be linked to my mount problem or something more sinister?
Had a look at the mount which looked pretty new and all seemed well. There was a bolt underneath which was a bit loose so I have tightened it and will see tomo on the way to work. I'm thinking it could now be an exhaust mount as the centre section is brand new and I suspect it was put on in a hurry
Cheers atouba ill go have a proper look when the rain stops! I must admit the 172 has been very disappointing in three months of ownership - broken alternator, broken water pump, new aux belt, 2 x tyres, new windscreen, steering wheel (plus squib issues) lambda sensor. One more thing and ill...
Right... so i have changed the dogbone and the noise is still there. I am concerned about the buzz/vibration from first to second when clutch is dropped - could this be another mount/shield?
When I put my foot down I can hear a knocking noise (only one knock) which sounds like a pop coming from underneath the engine bay. I have also noticed a buzz around the gear linkage area in 1st and 2nd esp when cold. Im assuming that the knock is causing the buzz. Any ideas? I think it could be...
just got back from 2nd attempt and the indicator cancel issue is intermittant. You would have thought a decent garage could put on a steering wheel properly!
Waterpump replaced and all is well so far! thank god i noticed the coolant loss before it was too late. It only cost me £70 for the excess labour in the end!
Car is in overnight so i got the peasant wagon home (not impressed). The last car that left me in that position went to the crusher!
Why is it that when you have spare money nothing goes wrong with cars but when you are skint and xmas is round the corner everything goes wrong?
Luckily the airbag ring was intact and no damage. It has now been fixed and the error code removed although the garage charged an hours labour and a diagnostic connection fee!
