Rear 172 suspension squeek

  Black Clio 172
My rear suspension has started to squeek when over bumps or when being jacked up. Would this be the shock or spring (or both)? How much am i looking at for parts and is it worth getting a budget coilver kit instead?

Where are you from? I would have thought a squeek would be from a bush or mount not shocks. However, to test the shocks yourself: rock the rear of the car to see if one side is stiffer or better damped than the other. It might be difficult to actually tell the difference tbf. Additionally run your hand down the shock to see if there's any oil on them.

Rear shocks for a 172 are about £40 each I think. Fitting only takes abut 10 minutes, i.e. cheap. 2 rear shocks and fitting going to be looking at maybe £130 or so?

Sorry, I'm not too sure. I'm not particuarly mech minded. I'm suprised none of the usuals have replied in this thread. Have you done a search? In addition, where are you from? Take it to one of the traders from here? Prob a 2 minute job to give a diagnosis potentially.

Yeah I have searched. I dont think it is a shock or spring - it sounds more like a mount or bush as you said. Ill get garage number three to take a look at the same time as my mount knock!
