double your budget and go for a suzuki ltz. it runs a drz400 engine - so parts are easierly available. The engines are very reliable as long as valves/timing chains are adjusted, and they get regular oil changes.
stick with a known brand as at least you will see some return when you come to...
obviously it was serviced. but the cost always covered and lost in the truck maintence, it was classed as a fleet vehicle. the OP was refering to the cost to him.
not really,
1 it wasnt being drven hard
2. the build quality of the older mercs is brillant
still ran spot on when it was sold. thats why the spanish use them as taxis
not bad really,. me mum used to have a merc e class diesel. apart from a 2 set of tyres and a set of brakes all round, it cost 20p in ten years. small clip on the throttle broke. bought with 25k on the clock and sold with 125k on the clock
having a major clearout of all my stuff, few clio bits available from my 172.

its bent round. no idea why but will probably have a filter so i not too worried about it. im surprized you even had brakes tbh as the brake servo take off point is on the wrong side facing into the alternator bracket. unless they ran a modified pipe, they couldnt be fitted properly.
just look for the discoloured parts on them. i got the car with a snapped timing belt and it had bent all the valves and just simply pushed all the rockers off. never owned let alone rebuilt any renault before so just lack of knowledge really.
yep sorted simple mistake - rockers the wrong way round!! :S
that will be the last time i buy a car with i know nothing about with a snapped timing belt.
oh well after seeing danny use the proper tools as well to aline everything, im kinda glad it happened as there is no way you could retorque...
Re: my 172 on ebay currently at £820 with NO RESERVE runs out in 24 hours grab a barg
its usually cheaper and more time effective. i did for my last car . get a collection date and time, and as said if he dont stick to it offer it to the next highest bidder
see im 99% sure this is what i done. the only thing i can think of is one of the rockers has fallen off when the rocker cover was fitted. im going to check it over again tomorrow and start from the begining
hi fred yes all the bits. can you confirm which way the cams should be? the timing belt was snapped when i orginally bought the car and my dealings with this engine
basicly looking for someone to time my engine in. someone ideally within 50 miles of datford kent.
car has uprated valve springs and a set of piper cams. headgasket etc has been replaced.
i have tryed it doing it my self according to autodata info and the cambelt guide off of here. and the...
engine and gearbox are back together so hopefully some progress will be made soon
cheers mate
building it myself. mechanic by trade so pointless paying some else to do it.
i have seen mixed opinions but as with everything, there is tyres, bush condition, other mods to consider, which i has never seen posted up. most people dont have £1000 to spend on suspension, so i can see why they dont sell a lot of kits. like with everything its down to opinion, and on a...
Same as any forum really one person has an opinion says its s**t and the flock follow as above I found them fine on other cars I have owned so change???
Tbh I have had them on various other cars road and track and can't fault them. I did see a few people on here didn't like them or thought they were no good and tbh I reckon they probably just didn't set them up right.
