    My new site/portfolio/blog

Hi All, I recently decided to set myself up with a more unique online presence rather than sticking with Flickr alone (which is great, but I wanted something I could use for blogging, and something which would allow me to customise the presentation). This photography section of the CS forum...

    Bring your own tyres

Anyone know of any tyre fitters in the Gloucester/Cheltenham area that will happily fit tyres you have brought along with you? I want to buy some from Camskill but want to be sure I can get them fitted. Thanks

    what camera?

This is a real bargain and is the camera I started with - http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_1&products_id=102548 400d for £269 is fantastic, you'll need to pick up a lens but the Canon 18-55mm kit lens can be snapped up for next to nothing on Ebay, or you could spend...

    Super Duper Mats

Any recommendations for some really nice quality mats? Tailored fit with quality carpet and good quality edges. Looks like Justmatz and Autostyle are mentioned various times in numerous posts but which are the better quality and are there any other companies to consider? Thanks

Racing Blue 182 - With CS Sticker in Cheltenham

Spotted your motor parked up in the carpark near the driving theory test centre. Got a feeling I've seen your car before; do you make your way into Cheltenham down the Shurdington road in the mornings?

    17-55 IS, thoughts?

I've got a pretty reasonable collection of lenses and my motto is to stretch myself and buy the best I can (so L lenses if that's what is needed). But, I have to say that my 17-55mm is the lens that time and time again I look at my pictures and notice that there is something just a touch better...

    Manky steering wheel - Twingo?

The thing for me is the material - as long it's different then it could mean the wheel won't go the same route as all of the other PH2 Clios.

    Manky steering wheel - Twingo?

Anybody on here work for a dealer and have a way of either trying this,or looking at the specs of the Twingo wheel to see if it will fit, it sounds like we could have something here...

Will we ever have another car with such good performance v cost? (172/182)

Yeah, they are nice to look at too - a guy at work had one. But then here comes the other thing, I have a 4 year old and the Clio can carry the whole family as well! I'm sitting quite happy here having repeatedly talked myself out of chopping it in for something newer! I remember a time when...

Will we ever have another car with such good performance v cost? (172/182)

Yeah that's the thing, I could go and buy something new, but I'm a sucker for value. Also, I've strayed away and sold a Cup once, and even though I've experienced cars with miles better build quality, and some that are quicker, none have been as cheap to run and also none have given me the same...

Honest opinions - 172 Cup suspension

Can you really improve on it as an all-round compromise? I have the cash to go for H&Rs, but is it worth it? Will a gain a car that is solid, but loses feel? Can you improve on the standard setup - if it can be seriously improved upon I reckon I'll do it.

Will we ever have another car with such good performance v cost? (172/182)

Yeah, have been a member last couple of years, just expired though - need to renew. I really don't want this thread to be a dreamers list of theoretical stats, but I stand corrected on the Evo time being 6.5 - http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/cardata/?cat=hot_hatches&page=2&sort=id&order=asc...

Will we ever have another car with such good performance v cost? (172/182)

I think 6.4 originally came from an Evo test, but without digging the magazine out the other source found so far would be - http://www.letstorquebhp.com/fwd.asp But it's all estimates/perfect starts etc.. but the original question still stands - they are awesome for the money

Will we ever have another car with such good performance v cost? (172/182)

My Cup - 0-60 6.4 138mph top speed 33mpg average on my stop-start to work, 43mpg on a long run, high 20's even when roasting it. (was less on track though). £350 insurance £140 for a pair of tyres £210 tax (this is the worst bit, will be rising too) It might rattle a bit, but I've...

    Manky steering wheel - Twingo?

If we can't fit 197 steering wheels to replace are dodgy 1*2 steering wheels, anybody know if the Twingo RenaultSport one will fit?

    Steering wheel falling to bits

If we could get Renault to cough up in some way, that would be great, but it's seriously making me considering going the steering wheel + seat + harnesses route. This is why - Option A) Buy new wheel from Renault - Pricey, and will only go the same way as the old one eventually Option B)...

    Sat Nav Help

Hi All, Looking for some advice on a Sat Nav. I don't need anything too fantastic as I don't travel on roads I don't know that often, but will be handy when I do. So I'm looking for something in lower price bracket and I definitely want something UK maps that I could easily whack the European...

    Steering wheel falling to bits

Is it just the Renaultsports with rubber grips that do this? (my Cup has the bubbling appearing, the thumbgrips are ok though so far). Does the same thing happen with the 182 Cup (Dynamique wheel?) wheels? If not I think I may either get one of those, or replace with a Momo but I worry about...

Need to replace the Clio - advice?

Problem is, I can't see me finding another petrol car that is as cheap to run? Any other hot hatches that will give 32mpg average? Gotta be a diesel surely? Civic Type R is going to be thirstier and anything with the VAG 1.8T is definitely not economical (been there - 23 mpg average) - nicely...

Need to replace the Clio - advice?

Hi all, Sadly I need something bigger than the Clio (I have a 172 Cup) so I need to find something to replace it. I have to compromise somewhere, but my criteria are - 1) Something with similar-ish performance/fun factor 2) Something the same or cheaper to run 3) I'm willing to throw a few...

    A sensible question!

Hi All, What are your thoughts/views on sinking capital into a car purchase? When you bought your Clios did you cover the whole thing with a loan even though you had cash in the bank? Some people argue you should never plow cash into a depreciating asset - you should take a loan to buy the car...

    iPod speaker thingys

Hi people, Good techie advice given here so thought I'd chance a question. Going on holiday soon which will involve food, drink and many an hour in or next to a private pool :D. Want to get a set of iPod speakers/dock so that I can take the iPod rather than stacks of CDs. Does anybody have any...

walk about lens on a crop sensor

Go with what's best for you now. I had the same dilemma, do I avoid all ef-s lenses just in case I upgrade, or do I get the best quality and most sensible zoom range for the camera I have at the moment? I went with the 17-55mm having also had a 24-105mm for a month (borrowed from a friend to...
