The thing is, this mechanic is her husbands mates dad, who they seem to trust, however I never have. I'm gonna get the car back this weekend, and take it to my mechanic to give it an overhaul, and run over all the things that have been done on it of late. Then I'm gonna get the small ding on it...

From mechanic - "It's ok there's nothing to pay, I'm going to try to manually adjust the belt to see if I can override the spring which tightens the belt." That sounds like a dodgy fix!
