182 runs way smoother and easier cold starts after changing the cambelt and déphaser pulley

Good for a 172, they usually run low to mid 160's

182 runs way smoother and easier cold starts after changing the cambelt and déphaser pulley

It's possible that the RST dyno is quite strict. Most 182's i've seen at EFI dyno days have been 170+. Low 140's would be a sign of the timing being out.

Fred and James’ Clio 182 Racecar Project

I've only ever used the GKN grease on tripods. Good to know you've not had any issues with CV grease. Certainly cheaper than the GKN stuff 😅

Fred and James’ Clio 182 Racecar Project

What are your thoughts on using the Redline CV2 grease on tripod joints as opposed to the thinner NLGI 1 grade greases like GKN Tripode Grease?

    Power Tool Perverts

Seen a few of his videos. Can see why he doesn't like them for parts availability, but there must be an element of user at fault for some of the ones he gets in as they're a right state. Goes on about a 1 year warranty all the time too 🤔

    ‘Claud’ The RB 182

Yeah mate, I cut the old one off carefully and then heated up the new one and tapped it on.

    ‘Claud’ The RB 182

I'm not sure mate, probably not knowing Renault. You can just change the sleeve on the end, that's all I did. I got lucky and found one on eBay brand new for £10. 7700858979 is the part.

    ‘Claud’ The RB 182

Did you get new driveshafts on this? I can't remember. If not, it's worth checking the driver's one on the splined sleeve that goes onto the diff output... Ask me how I know 😂

Any idea what this cable is?

I believe they helped the engine in the warm up start, but I'm not exactly sure how.

For the acoustic valve thing that everyone removes.

It will do, just clamp a strip of wood to the door as a guide to give you a straight edge.

An hour maximum and that's taking your time.

    Power Tool Perverts

Yeah true, otherwise I suppose it'd be a big loophole of claiming new batteries and getting a fresh warranty every time 😅
  21. JamesBryan

    Power Tool Perverts

So does that mean you only get the remaining warranty?
  22. JamesBryan

    Power Tool Perverts

Could be wrong, but replaced items get a whole new warranty. Repaired items, the warranty carries on with the original warranty period.

182 rear brake pipes NLA, any other Renaults make a good substitute?

Can make some up with solid line easy enough, but it won't look great unless you can get the pipe properly straight. Braided lines are PTFE lined not rubber, so won't deteriorate.
