Got the rear hubs back from the powder-coaters:
...and the rear axle to body shell mounting brackets:
they look so much better than they did!!
*Yes I am trying to get it all done before everything turns to s**t with this Chinese Flu!
Thanks for reading 🙂
As we're all now dam near confined to our homes thanks to Chinese Flu, I figure I might as well continue to work on the Clio. I mean being confined in my house, or the garage is the same thing right..? 🤷♂️
I took the "new" rear axle to be powder-coated, so whilst that's being done, I took...
Hi @Darren61,
Is there any guide on the correct location for the original badges on the back of a Clio??
Those look in the right location, but wondering what you used for reference?? Got a set to go back onto my Clio RB and want to try to get them back in the original locations correctly...
@Amos91 Thanks for confirming that! I crawled under the car this morning and took this photo:
I noticed that little rubber bush is there on the original Axle, but not on the one I’m getting blasted?? I’d prefer it was there, but I’m not going to worry too much about it.
Someone's been there...
Before the rear axle goes off to be treated, I wanted to remove the rear axle bushes. I gave them a few tentative taps with a mallet but soon realised that they weren’t going to come out unless I had a serious word with them... so I got my serious face on.. 😠
First thing was to get a decent...
Got hold of a “spare” rear axle in fairly good condition.
I’m going to get this one all cleaned up and powder-coated then I can just swap for the existing one when I’m ready to fit.
I was surprised the Clio 182 rear beam was simpler in construction than my R5/R11 with Just one torsion bar...
Got a set of wheels chemically stripped to allow me to get them refurbished.
to ensure they match the OE Centre caps as close as possible, I’m going to spray them, rather than get them powder coated. It’s not as thought they’re ever going to see a rough daily use in winter, so I think the paint...
Got the car up in the air on Saturday, and removed the front load bearing elements (Which all looked as though they'd been at the bottom of the bloody sea! ⚓) ready for re-work/refurbishment:
Then on Sunday, I re-fitted a few more pieces into the engine bay, including the Alternator Belt...
Can and if you chaps confirm where the “fuel return” pipe goes?? I found that the Carbon Canister pipe goes to the Inlet Manifold last night:
But now I’m wondering where the other one goes??
I’m also wondering where the outlets from the carbon canister go...?
Any help appreciated 😉
Had a couple of cheeky hours in the garage last night and made a start on the HVAC system. Radiator and fan is already prepared and assembled, but I'd recently got hold of an AC condenser, so I thought I would fit it:
However when I look at the old one I took of the car, the black anodised...
Thank you @Mbeau (y)(y)
Yes the Aircon and PAS pipes are new, I've also taken the liberty to give them a quick polish with a buffing wheel and soap to make them come up their best. Air-Con is great when it's working on a sunny day, so I want to make sure it's all in and running ok when I do...
I love your thinking @welshname and am surprisingly aligned with your train of thought.... I like the idea of a Blue Trophy myself and could have just bought a Trophy to begin with, but I just can’t bring myself to own a Red car (long story) so this is how it’s going down.
I’m tempted by a pair...
Thanks chap!!
I’ve got the basics of the loom locations, but just can’t figure out how those three sections of loom and the associated bracket comes from the back of the engine bay, to the front, over the gearbox..?
It’s this bracket I’m struggling with:
Hello all,
As part of my Clio 182 Restoration
https://cliosport.net/threads/big-steves-rb-clio-182-cup-restoration.823536/post-11860027
I’m struggling to see where the Engine Bay wiring loom located above the gearbox?? I’ve got the little 3 strand holder, but can’t see where to fix it, and/or...
Thank you for the support @DomP182 👍
She’s going to get used alright when she’s done, but it’ll just be for summer high days and holidays. She won’t be a daily. 👍
Fitted my new Alternator today, together with a trial fit of some of the air conditioning and Power steering hoses:
And I finally got the engine bay fuse/relay box looking something like:
The Dielectric grease was too thick to go thru the needle of the syringe, 😢 but it worked well coming out...
