I have to agree with Kev.. the rears really don’t do anything, during hard braking, with the weight transfer you get you only have about 15% of the cars weight over the rear axle.. (doesn’t take much to lock the rears) I run std rear discs and OEM pads on our race car (still on the same discs...
It’s actually Scott .. my surname is Thompson and used to get called Tomo, so was going to use TomoTek as an engineering name lol.. everyone thinks Tom tho :)
Thanks Rob, no worries, it’s good to pass on knowledge and opinions as it can generate ideas and invoke thoughts that you may not have...
Hi Rob, all points noted, not taken in a bad way at all :) ... my thoughts below:
1: Rubber Boots - OEM ball joints more often than not are a steel on steel type for cost which are very sensitive to dirt ingress into the joint, as dirt can get between the two surfaces and start to wear it away...
I know the first batch of the lower pins from ACS were made from stainless steel 304 or 316 (chosen for corrosion) which is what caused the failures as the UTS and fatigue properties of the material is far lower than the high strength steel used on most other kits... Anthony did replace people’s...
Not sure which kits your referring to that had the potential oval issue.
However we aren’t concerned with the Hubs ovalising on the PRO-AM kit. As long as you fully support the lower surface of the hub with the pin, which it does, then it’s probably got less chance of ovalising the hub than the...
If anyone wants anymore details about our geo kits then just sent me a DM.. we’ve got about 30 on the market now, from people using as daily’s, to people racing on slicks.. had some great feedback and has been interesting to see what countries have clios!, Australia, to Hong Kong and Brazil!
I know the difference between the Pure motorsport and the Pro-Am kit is regarding Pure using the Laguna hubs and our Pro-Am kit being plug and play, 2 stage and fully reversible if wanting to sell and put car back to std etc..
Costs:
Pure Motorsport
RC kit £336
Bump steer £99
Laguna hubs and...
Yeah will be good to re evaluate the balance after fitting the RC kit... we had a pretty good balance before fitting our splitter. So after fitting it we did about 2 laps before coming in to fit the wing!.. was very tail happy.. the wing brought the balance back to how it was before, just better...
Cheers mate, appreciate you taking the time to read it all. Yeah its been an interesting few years! Glad to see all the work starting to pay off.
All our switches are switched to ground. So we took the signal wires from the stalks and routed them to the switch panel and out the switches to a...
Hi mate, yeah correct the further back you put the wing the larger the moment and equivalent torque/load the wing produces... I didn't want to go too far backwards as I wanted the aero balance still be predominantly forward biased... essentially too far back and we'd still have understeer...
Quite a way off i'd imagine, takes ages to get a part in a position to do a batch run.. need to do a lot more testing too and improve it.
Thanks gents.. if you can think of any ideas to make it better let me know!
Thanks!..It has been a challenging 6 months to get to this point but glad its...
Well it’s taken some time to complete and a lot of man hours to design but I finally launched the teams website and online shop on Wednesday!
www.proamracing.co.uk
If you ever wondered what the full spec of the car, we’ll it’s now all listed in the ‘OUR CAR’ section!
Hopefully I’ll be able...
Thanks... glad it has been of some use to someone.. I never got round to sorting the other looms out and recording them properly... I'll need to do it as I have another set of looms to modify for another project!
Haha nice one!... I'll do some posts soon, im just in the middle of trying to...
Well with the current situation and the first half of our season being cancelled its been nice to reflect on the last race of last season while I have been writing up the race report which is well overdue!.... The final race weekend of the year certainly had its highs and lows.
RACE REPORT-...
@Eddie555 I think I saw the video on facebook... you did the right thing just turning out of it, and going on the grass.
We're looking into fitting a splitter for this year. Probably cut some grass at some point this season too ;)
Yeah the fronts go off in the 2nd half of the race.. we get about 2deg hotter on inside.. maxed out on camber at front though, but I’m working on that! [emoji41]
They run the races independently. So the TDC and Supercup aren't always on the same weekends or tracks. Most of the time they are though.
We've been seeing around a 18% loss from fly to wheel hp.
Is 950kg your weigh with or without driver?, as the min weights include driver and fuel left over.
Hi mate, we’re running in class C again in the TDC. Want to give it another shot this year.
Supercup run in another race as the grids are two big to combine them (used to be the same race) the supercup control tyres are Yokos now too, not the Toyos
What rough power at the wheels are you...
Yeah he wasn’t happy, didn’t see him after the race but saw he’d written some ‘interesting’ comments about me on Facebook in the Civic Owners Page as he was after a new door [emoji51] (not getting dragged into all that)
Simon in the Clio pulled the same move on me the lap or two before, but I...
RACE REPORT- RND#5 TDC Donington GP (21/09/2019)
We arrived at Donington feeling good after our test the week before. Weather was looking fresh and sunny. Moods were good.
We setup in the morning and flew through scrutineering, just leaving us to attend the normal drivers briefing before we...
Oh mate that's a shame... I had your build saved as a favourite, was enjoying seeing you progress.
I know how it can be tho, so good luck with your other projects and commitments (y)
I think as Mark said it gives the ability to fine tune the setup and have a more stable rear end, but with the ARB still have a stiff enough rear end to get the car rotating.
Mark I think you have it spot on.. It all depends on how much effort you want to put in, and with that you can get...
They’re the control tyre for the MSVT Super Cup now the AO52s .. might try them out next season in a one off race.. any more thoughts on what your entering next season?
Yeah they are.. come rain or shine!.. grrr
You can run what you like in the Trackday Trophy races though, and we plan to enter a couple of those next year too. SO would look to try the Direzzas
what do you run in your races?
