Great effort. I’m about to start lining the camper van and it’s going to be a big effort. But looking forward to seeing the difference it makes.

Also the possibility that it’s been hit with a hammer.
If a car won’t turn over on the starter it’s often because the starter solenoid is stuck and giving it a tap with a hammer sometimes fixes it.

Wheels painted over the last week.
I had a few problems with this first attempt. There were a few runs. And some dry spots. Yes it’s a little orange pealy but that can be wet sand and polished out.
So I sanded back the front face and laid them flat. Looking good so far. I’ll let them dry...
Spent most of today messing about with the wheels.
I have stripped one a while back so had to sand back 3 wheels then etch prime them.
Just me that gets a prodrive Impreza feel from the primer?
Also got the sliding door on. Means the van can be moved outside without raining causing any...
I work for Sky actually. Marketing role.
It was a local guy that painted it in braidwood. James McLean paint repair. He done a good job. Still needs to go back for a cut and polish.

Wee update tonight.
I had the van outside for the first time since I got it back. It would be rude not to take a picture.
And all the lights are in now. New U.K. legal pressed plates on as well.
Only really the sliding door and door handles to finish the outside.

Yeah I’m very much up for that.
Still thinking a day van for summer only / me on my own at car events.
Next evolution will be some electrics and a night heater.
Then I might go full camper if we do use it a lot.

Not much in the way of pictures. But with the holidays looking I needed to get my finger out and start buying stuff for the van.
This is when you start to stack up the costs and have to stop yourself going too far.
Yesterday I bit the bullet and bought most of the stuff I need to finish the...
Almost has its face now. Time consuming carefully fitting parts back on and getting the panel gaps half decent.
I’m having some trouble getting the front panel to clip into the wings. Ordered some new clips to see if this helps.

Actually your down south. These Yorkshire types [emoji23]
I’ll just wait patiently for the next round of pictures, dust pan and brush included.

Problem normally is rust is like an iceberg. The worst of it you can’t even see.
That will turn into £1000 of welding in no time.

One passed me yesterday in liquid yellow. Sounded nice.
I’m not sold on the Semi auto for a hot hatch (I have an m140 with one but I think it suits that car). But the latest clios do look nice and go well.

New windscreen fitted today by Scott-Glaze. Good service. Came from Perth to me and fitted a brand new screen for £200.
Also found some time tonight to get the drivers door abs latch on. Plus the drivers side wing.
Very happy with how it’s looking. Can’t wait to see what it looks like built...
Most of it was brought back to the lockup tonight. Very pleased and excited to get it back together.
I’ve still to get the doors and bonnet back.
The new windscreen gets fitted on Wednesday and I’ll be working to carefully put it all back together without scratching any new paint.
I...
Yeah. I’ve heard of people mapping in no fuel at 100% TPS and 500 RPM as a “flood clear” as well. I’ve never done it but the idea is that full throttle off the key if you flood your engine it gives you a means to just pump air through it and try again.
I’m personally trying to get a start off...
Just remember to leave the spare out for the test now.
If you put a baldy cracked wheel in the boot for the test it will fail. But if you have nothing it will pass. Quirks of the MOT [emoji23]

Good idea to set this up.
My car was turned on throttle bodies and 197 cams by ktec before I bought it.
Overall the map is very very good for a standalone ECU. But I had a few issues.
Cold start - this was ok for the most part but I think it was mapped in the summer in the south west. Very...
And it’s in colour now. I’ve to pick up the van on Monday and the doors, wings and bonnet will be ready later next week.

All really good points.
Also worth noting the turbo figures assume the correct sizing but any supercharger can be resized easily. If you want to PSI brought lower down the Rev range just stick a bigger crank or smaller charger pulley on and you are there.
You will get to a point where you...
Correct. Did wonder about that comment. They are amazingly quiet.
I’m not sure they have “all of the lag”. Just that they have maximum boost at maximum RPM. It’s always providing the amount of boost it’s supposed to at a given RPM.

Update from the paint shop. I’ve left them to finish some of the repair work.
In primer next then it should be in colour by Tuesday.

I don’t have direct experience of a clio. But I have a rotrex supercharged classic mini. My brother have a turbo.
Turbo is the sensible choice. Cheaper and ultimately a faster car. More torque earlier which give better acceleration.
I went the supercharger route for something different...
