Hi there,
Looking to get the B14 suspension on my clio, but since the money's short right now I'd buy the rear b14 dampers only (as my current gaz ones are gone) and as soon as possible the whole kit.
Couldn't find the part number for the rear B14 dampers so wondered if someone can help so I can...
A friend bought a set of Mahle piston rings for his ph1, do they need any kid of modification when installing? the producer says they do but we're not that sure
have this problem with mine also. I already checked the drains under the scuttle panel, also removed the wheel arch and cleaned all the gunk. Anywhere else I should check?
the GAZ are 275 lbs front and 250 lbs/in rear. I found that the bilstein kit is 90nm (front springs) which if I'm not mistakin' is about 400lbs/in.
Yes they're not adjustable but I'm pretty sure that the damping is well suited from the factory. I'm basically running my dampers in the same...
if you have a non cup 172 and want cup shocks you have 2 options:
buy 172 cup shocks front and rear, they will fit with no other mods - this is what I'd be doing
buy 182 cup shocks front and rear, but you'll have to buy 182 front hubs also which have 60mm bolt spacing. If doing so you may...
Makes sense what you're sayin' but on the other hand my experience with coilovers is very limited. I never drove another clio running other coilies to compare with mine. Yeah i'm on a tight budget but if the b14's are indeed in another league of handling then maybe it's better to wait a little...
Hi there,
After about three years two of my GAZ shocks (GHA kit) started to leak. I'm undecided wether to go for bilstein b14 or refurb the GAZ units as I'm quite tight on a budget right now.
I know that billies have a very good reputation but also heard of them being problematic after couple of...
Same here, I'm running 1,5 neg degrees of camber for some years now without any visible tyre wear. I'd check the alignment first of all. Also, why throw away the camber bolts? what if one of the front dampers is slightly missaligned? you will get different values using standard bolts.
Better...
very few rs clios around here to go searching for a used screen :( I know there are few other good brands that make compatible windscreens with auto-lights/wipers compatibility as well, just don't know what brand to choose
I found a circular crack on top of the windscreen near the mirror, and plan to get a replacement soon
Is the OE screen worth the 300+ quid I was asked for or should I get an aftermarket one at half price?
If so what aftermarket brands do you recommend?
Thx!
there were another runs with the bonnet closed, as the one printed. will test versus the standard airbox as soon as I'll get my hands on my old one (it's at my folks 150miles away)
This test was made just out of curiosity and because we had 3 different setups to play with.
Honestly I'm...
finally got out again and the results were a bit unexpected:
The BMC CDA setup is pretty good actually as I didn't gained any from fitting the diy kit beside noise.
Anyway will sell the BMC to get some profit. Still the diy k-tec style remains the best value/money/power gain kit over anthing...
I had the HElLIX organic kit bought from k-tec, but due to some other problems I had to change it after 30k. But it felt nice, obviously not that user friendly in trafic but I got used to it and loved it. Coupled with full engine mount upgrade and poly pushed dogbone it really sharpens things up.
update:
the silver 182 went on the dyno today and it pulled out 6 bhp more vs the old Green intake setup:
The blue car also received the same intake couple of days ago. Now we're gonna repeat the road test to see if I also gained over my old (BMC CDA) setup and then probably another dyno run...
After years of reading various opinions on wether an IK is worth doing I finally got the chance of testing 2 setups on 2 cars
specs of the above car:
november 2004 clio 182
engine was changed one year ago with a new one and the current unit has abou 6k
std suspension
custom 63mm cat back...
I really don't understand why the std setup is said to deliver the best output. Ok if compared to a cheap open cone setup behind the rad it' obvious that the std setup is getting colder air into the engine.
But take the K-tec setup for example. It has a good quality foam filter positioned in the...
I written those as I found them around here.
So 275 lbs/in is about 5kg/mm-front
250 lbs/in is approx 4,5kg/mm-rear
as for the renault quotes:
3,19 daNM/mm is about 3,25kg/mm-front
5,65 daNM/mm is about 5,7kg/mm-rear
So this is where thigs go blurry, cup rear springs being WAY stiffer that Gaz...
I understand how the suspension works, but what I don't is why Gaz for example gave their spring rates in one manner and renault in a different manner. I was curious how stiffer are the gaz springs compared to std cup springs and can't tell from what I've found so far
As I said, GAZ springs are...
