I just came from doing a proper bed in session. Nice blue ish material deposit on both discs, I also had an infrared thermometer and measured temperatures both sides - gradually went up in braking force and ended up to about 200°C on both sides (measured the discs), max difference left to right...
Oh wait, you are talking about chamfering the pad material right? Well the Valeo pads were chamfered from factory and it still squealed like a stabbed pig so it's not that
That I think was applied to the std calipers when mounting ds2500 pads that were a very tight fit. On these 197 calipers the pads move freely, so I don't think that's the issue
Only thing that makes sense is there's still a difference in how the pistons slide in and out, thus pressing on a certain pad unequal and creating the squeal. Meaning that if one of the two pistons of a certain pad don't push by the same amount it creates that sound. Maybe there's some tiny air...
This is a 2 minute read so bear with me pls!
I recently got said calipers from a guy, got them powdercoated, brand new pistons and seals, new pad hardware (pins and anti rattle shims), DS2500 pads and new Brembo max 280mm discs.
This is my second attempt to to this job, first time I cheaped out...
different camber adjustment between left and right photo. I guess the advantage is that the wheel runs a bit further away from the BC strut, but if you run spacers that doesn't matter actually as there's no chance of rubbing
Hi,
Having upgraded my 182 to said calipers, now I'm after the DS2500 pads to fit them and wanted to know if them pads require some filing like the DS2500's for the std caliper did?
Sorry if that has been covered but I couldn't find a thread on it (I guess they don't need to?)
Thanks!
I just refreshed a pair of 197 calipers and fitted them to my 182, but the front right one gets hot, I also put brand new brembo max discs but OE Valeo pads (they came with the calipers as a bonus from the seller) and after some harder braking action the right disc got brownish in colour and the...
Bump!
So I have a pair of 197 calipers and need the hoses to fit my 182. As far as I'm aware the braided kit for the 197 will fit? Something like the one kam sells here:

Only the front hoses...
Yeah and you won't believe it- it was the coilovers themselves. I changed the GAZ GHA that I had with a set of B14's and now it is PERFECT. I still can't believe that I struggled for 10+years with this. I went through 2 sets of GHA's but even when new the noise was still there.
Plus the car...
I can't find any lemforder balljoint on my local online part store with this code. Maybe because I'm based in the EU and not in the UK? The ones that appear to be the right part have the 2889203 code attached (they have the M12 size bolts as they should)
Does the DCI rack have the same lock to lock turns compared to the RS one? I've heard that it has like 4 turns rather than 2,8- that's not so pretty, would make the car feel dull. Or am I wrong?
Just replaced my thermostat the other day. Question is- why do these fail SO BADLY? It basically shredded apart wtf. This is the second one in the last 3 years, the original one lasted 15 years or so
Any ideas? are there some stronger units out there?
hey nice build you have here!
I see that you're running 30mm spacers- how do you cope up with that? Suspension guru's will say that the scrub radius will be all over the place and that the best way to substantially increase track width is with longer wishbones/lower ball joints and longer...
