I have vibratechnics engine mount and purple dogbone bushes and theres no added vibration (I have standard gearbox mount at present though) The only thing that causes big vibrations is my exhaust mount as I tigersealed the gaps up. Thats enough to vibrate the rear viee mirror and make my...
Not that I timed my laps but I think I did about 2:40 that was in the wet though. Need to do it in the dry :)
Car looks awesome. Now to look at the vids.
Either way its all pretty insignificant in the grand scheme but I dont think I would make my car louder and less comfy if I didnt feel like it did anything by stripping it.
Atmospherics and height above sea level do not affect mass though. If you go round a corner or brake hard with even 50kg less weight thats quite a difference imo. Especially on a track over many laps.
Thats interesting you say that and im shocked that you dont feel the difference!
I did some maths and with 180kg taken out that would give a 172 a power to weight of 178bhp per tonne
(I said it was 166bhp by the way)
Im not saying I did it to go faster. I actually did it because on track im...
Actually my maths is wrong. Very slightly.LOL but it wouldnt be 5 secs thats for sure.
But it does make sense that if a sport is 7.1 and you make it the same weight as a cup in theory you should have the same 0-60 time provided everything else is the same tyres etc.
I guess it is opinion. Personally I don't use the car all that much and I can put up with no cd player and speakers etc. In fact im one of those odd people that could run an R26R as a daily and have no dramas with it :D
Jesus you must have a massive asshole to do 60kg s***s.
Im not going to argue over it. I can feel it. Period.
Especially the spare when you consider where it is and how low it is. Rear is a lot nicer and flightier without it too. Shame I need it most of the time...
In a straight line no. Low down acceleration and cornering? Yes very noticeable imo
Not being funny I know my car inside out and could notice a pair of slippers on the back seat lol
Coincidentally thats almost exactly the same as a cup weight. So if a sport does 0-60 in 7.1 and a cup in 6.7 effectively I've knocked almost half a second off my 0-60 time.
Then factor in lets say 10kg for the sound deadening removed, a kilo for the rear wiper, lets say 15kg for the rear seats and 5 for the misc ellaneous stuff thats another 30kg if im being a bit conservative so lets say thats 60kg all in.
Thats 3 bags of sand or cement.
If you can't feel that...
Well that b****cks because if I was to add that weight back in I'd know straight away. I can noticeably feel the difference with the spare wheel out (I wouldnt be surprised if the whole lot tyre and tools, jack weighed about 30-35 kg with how heavy that feels)
That tar deadening crap is surprisingly heavy and does surprisingly little so thats where I would start.
That said my first trackday in the Clio I don't think having a passenger made any difference at all. If anything I had better traction lol
I use my car daily but its not a "daily driver" as...
Still not sure how people find coilovers too soft for track. At Snetterton with standard sport suspension I wasnt thinking to myself I need stiffer suspension over any other items I might want. That said it was bloody wet.
How much do they weigh? Will fitting them to a 172 non cup make them appear even more lost inside the arches?
Lastly will they accept a 195/50/15 track tyre?
