Been a while since an update but I've now replaced the worn out suspension which I managed to trash on track with some BC coilovers.
A very good set up for the money IMO, fully adjustable (height and damping stiffness) come with solid top mounts with camber adjustment too. I've replaced the...
I prefer this video of that exhaust tbh (Same exhaust but on my ph-1) had a slightly bigger silencer but was still pretty loud, was well under any noise restrictions at Oulton though.
Shame I hadn't spotted your thread sooner cos I knew exactly what it was when I watched the video lol
I just ground the top of the knuckle off and made it work tbh.
Few shots from Oulton Park.
Car is in desperate need of coilovers if I do anymore trackdays, I was getting a lot of lean in the corners and the handling was compromised, I imagine the standard shocks have seen better days too.
My ph-1 was quicker in a straight line, it handled better and overall just felt like it was a more competent car. Personally I think they're the better looking car exterior wise, interiors are horrendous though. lol
Turbo Cooler fitted, didn't take any progress photos as I kept expecting it to rain yesterday during fitting lol
All this does is cool the coolant down after it's come out the turbo just before it goes back in to the engine, I was a little sceptical of it working but I have seen a decrease in...
Next up Cylinder Head Temp sensor. Been getting a few strange readings from the scangauge so the sensor was the 1st thing to change.
Bit of a pig this job as the sensor is located in the back of the head under the inlets and infront of the alternator.
1st removal of the inlets.
Then removal...
This arrived yesterday
So once again I had to dismantle the front end
Only 30+ bolts and nuts to remove to get it to this stage lol.
Couple of old vs new pics showing the core size difference
Then I had to mount the fan housing to the new rad
Took a bit of drilling and jigging...
No no, Chris copies you.
But back on topic, you can't say something is s**t when you drive around with the exact same things on your own car. Lol.
Doesn't matter anyway, I won't be swayed by others opinion, so it's a fruitless task trying to convince me otherwise.
Good news that there's life in the engine and as mentioned on chat, fingers crossed no damage was done when the oil line went pop.
and LOL, the term "when hell freezes over" springs to mind. TF.
Totally irrelevant if it's OEM or not, we both have black wheels and both look decent regardless of what you say lol. Same goes for the black painted bit on the rear bumper.
I will get them refurbed at somepoint as they're getting a little ropey in places, the colour will depend on what ever...
Tbh I've been slacking with my project thread on RSOC.com lol
Boost is a lot more aggressive through the boost solenoid, get a very satisfying kick up the arse, when direct it was more like NA. It's just progressive boost which seemed to take forever to get the car going.
Yeah I've upgraded...
Lol. Just learning as I go along, all part of the fun.
Results from EFI yesterday
I've lost 6bhp peak but gained 47lbs ft of torque and it peaks much earlier in the rev range. The car is much quicker across the ground in it's current form.
Update:
I was having a few issues with the coolant temps getting a little high since the weather has warmed up lately, nothing that would damage the engine but higher than I'm comfortable with. Decided to change the 92degree thermostat for an 88degree thermostat.
Old stat out
I've also...
Is the ABS working? Presuming not if the lamp is lit. Personally I'd go round and investigate each sensor and see there's anything obvious like frayed wires, other than that it's a case of having it plugged in and a diagnostic ran on it to tell you which sensor has failed (if that is the issue)...
Re: E36 Track Day Hack (v2)
Good progress Jord. See you're building a collection of Bimmer bits as big as you did with Clio bits. Lol. Many trackdays planned for next few months?
