Have you drilled much of the inner skins inside? Mine just has a bolt in safety devices cage so not gone crazy chopping stuff out but I do have a fibreglass tailgate and bonnet! Also didn’t realise the savings with fibreglass doors were so big.
I’ll put those a little lower down the list then.. it does all add up but it starts to get very hard doesn’t it.. for the moment I am trying to keep mine MOT worthy which puts a stop to some easy weight.
What does your weigh at the moment? I guess you will only be running a single seat too?
Nice work! Just going through some similar things with my own car at the moment.
Weighed it today and it is 912.5kg
How much did the manual mirrors save if you don’t mind me asking?
It won’t be the rings you need to worry about.. it’ll have no doubt bent the majority (if not all) of the valves! And with that comes the damage to the piston crowns!
It won’t be pretty, put it that way!
Mine is 10mm higher on the front than the back but if you measure from the sill there is still rake so yours must have loads! For reference I have just removed my bc brs to replace with AST’s and used to run them without that rear shim with no problems
Are you measuring that height difference at the sill front and rear or from the arch’s through the centre of the wheel to the ground?
Some rake will help turn in and make the car rotate but too much rake will make the rear end very lively! Depends how you want it to feel..
How well do the two integrate? Is it just one comms lead to connect the two and did you have to add any additional sensors? Any pics would be a bonus!
Cheers
Can I ask where you get your black jubilee clips from? Been looking at some myself but don’t want to end up with crap ones where the coating just comes off and they end up looking naff.. cheers!!
Yeah, it’s the cheaper rad that he does! Perfectly fine for what I’m doing!
Ah, you’d think if buying a full kit it would come with the plug but hey ho I’ll probably do as you have done.. I assume that plug is rated highly enough for the current draw?
Just an update on the rad weights.. my rad finally came today!
So, cup rad- 5.31kg
Slam panel- 1.53kg
Larger bracket off subframe- 0.20kg
Total-7.04kg
Pure rad with all brackets- 3.11kg
Fan-1.79kg
Total-4.90kg
Hope that helps!
Did your fan come with the other half of the plug to fit to the...
Must have something to do with the three wires on the diagram I posted..( going from airbag module to diagnostic connector) any chance you can test voltage on those three with and without airbag module plugged in? Maybe needs foolin to think module is still plugged in when it’s not..
I
Yeah will let you know if it arrives. Not sure on fan size as I just said “yes” to the fan whilst adding the rad to basket. Hopefully that’s what you did and I’ll end up with the same thing! I didn’t bother with the electronic fan controller though.
I’ve removed my cup rad and fan (not sure if cup rad is different) it weighed in at 5.3kg. Was hoping that the new set up would be a little lighter :grimacing:
Does the pure rad hang purely off those two brackets through the crash bar or does it locate in the original holes with the rubber feet?
I’ve ordered one which hasn’t arrived yet but if the bracket off the front edge of the subframe is no longer used I’m going to remove it..
Always keep an eye on this build! Good luck on the rollers tomorrow!
One question, the centre bonnet pin, do you have a pic of where you have mounted the pin, from zooming in it looks as though it’s at an angle off maybe the bumper? It’s a nice neat solution to keep the centre of the bonnet...
