We’ve had a friend follow and film us before 2 rallies in 1 weekend.
Hopefully be able to do this more over the next few rallies along with more videos on the prep side as we’ve just ordered a new 3MO sequential for the blue car
This is part 1
Enjoy
All the changes finally paid off
2nd in class on the North West Stages. Arguably the biggest tarmac rally in the country at the minute
We had 4 stage wins but unfortunately a few stopped stages in the morning with crashed cars give us some poor nominal times so couldn’t fit for the win...
240 bhp engine I bought had no compression so that’s gone 😂
Ohlins back from a service
I have a rally in 3 weeks, shame to drop a 200bhp engine back in but it will do whilst I gather parts for one to be built
Yeah so it runs 172 hubs now, cup racer ball joint and custom pin
Why go cup racer should be the question really? The hub isn’t designed on a clio to be ran at rally height
I managed to get it working ok spacing the steering arm up and having some custom pins but you can’t fault a standard...
There shouldn’t be concern, Twingo r2 ohlins second hand and job done. That’s what I’m on now and I know 2 others running the Twingo dampers on a clio.
Very easy to get hold of
Personally the reigers weren’t the best, too soft handling wise then wouldn’t take a bumpy road. Zoltan at Reiger did...
I know, I don’t get on here as much to be honest. I’m doing my house up and crazy with work so I hardly get a minute.
Plans wise it’s get the car working, if it’s still not how I want on the first test back then it’s actually going this time 😂
Full year of rallying in it and I didn’t enjoy one...
I haven’t updated this much but I managed to do another 4 rallies after oulton
Argyll 2nd in class
Mewla 4th in class, lost out to 3rd with a snapped shaft half a mile from the end of the last stage
Three shires, off the road 😬
Tour of epynt, 6th in class, not the best result but car...
The only place you might find a few is Finland and Estonia and I wouldn’t say they’re that popular.
They’re good in the fast long corners due to the longer wheel base but not the most nimble things
A quick rack would help them for sure and the engine is up for debate. Good for bhp and noise...
If you want to hire I’ve got 2 clios here, take your pick? 😂
I’d personally build a car or buy one done instead of hiring an mx5 by the time you’ve done a few rallies you could of bought it
Hahah it’s because it was happening all day.
We both got pretty fed up at that point and had lost around 10 seconds at one point as I had to pretty much stop dead on the dusty gravel section as a car was reversing out onto the stage 🤯
Cheers man, the lap without him in front was 6 seconds quicker, I was loosing so much momentum in the corner having to slow for him.
My brother caught him on a stage and put it in his rear quarter 😂
Not sure where to start with this one but all I can say is @NorthloopCup is some man
I’m not saying he will do this for everyone but who can you drop a gearbox off to at 11pm on a Friday night, have it stripped by 12 and picked up the next day, for then you to call him at 12:30am asking can it...
You’d be surprised how many are actually available for the clio, in France you have to have an airbox on the bodies. Not sure why but a foam filter isn’t allowed
It’s a week to the rally at oulton with plenty to do
Whilst checking over the car yesterday I noticed a little weep from the radiator so that’s off to be repaired but I ended up buying the new pms rad for the clio cups as the engine sits lower.
New bottom engine mount for the subframe will be...
Looks good but you might find the steering arm won’t need spacing lower at all on the Laguna hub as the steering arm point is considerably lower than a 172/182 hub
I bought the cup inserts from optimiz, hopefully they are correct. If I dont use them I have the bump steer kit from pms as well.
Cool so you’re doing it right.
If you use the pms stuff get the other insert from jacques point then drill out from 10mm to 12mm.
I’m surprised Nick himself...
