So the race engine went back in, came back out and a standard engine with grp n timing has gone in for the meantime whilst the race engine goes back to the engine builder again!
With such a crazy rush I managed to get the standard engine mapped on Saturday.
it produced good figures but in a...
Engine is back after rebuild and a fare few ££££ lighter but hopefully this time it will last.
Started putting it back together this evening, all being well it will be running again tomorrow, then just mapping to sort out next week.
Whilst waiting for the engine I managed to fit the bumper...
Few issues but should still make oulton.
New crank dropped off and rods bought. Found that the head head been skimmed so the pistons had been coming into contact with the head, so thicker gasket is needed which is a pain, different cp ratio so will need mapping again.
We have found more issues...
Just when you think you’re on the home straight and nearly finished.
I also haven’t been updating the blue clio but this is the 3rd engine drop we’ve done in 2 weeks. Getting regular this 👎🏼
😂😂 Yeah it’s ok at the bottom but pretty close near the top. The ohlins it the other car were similar but we made bigger spacers on the inside to help it a little more
Black wheel spam. City wheels £20 a wheel job.
So an issue I assumed would come up after looking at the geo.
I’m running the standard cup racer pins which are set for an on the floor ride height, i obviously can’t run the car that low so I’ve managed to source some short pins which hopefully...
Yeah that’s the size of what was in it, all be it a cheap bearing, but with the shaft being 18mm it made sense to change to it run without an insert. I’ve used a magill Motorsport bearing but the original cup racer mounts i have I run the same size bearing but made by uniball at around €70. If...
Thanks 👍🏻 Yeah what I did was ordered a proper m18 bearing instead of m20 to do away with the shitty sleeve spacers as the shaft is 18mm. Then got the inside of the mount milled down by 0.5mm as the new bearing was 16.5 deep instead of 16mm. Circlip now holds the bearing perfect.
Engine is in 😍
Took the clutch plate to Questmead on Wednesday, got it back Friday after re paddling it. Great service meant I could crack on with getting the motor in.
I drilled the cup racer brace as I might use it by bolting it on to the top mount instead of the top plate. Now it’s...
Bit of a set back today.
The plan was to get the engine and box mounted on the subframe and into the car.
I gave the helix clutch that come with this car to my brother because I had a relatively new sach pms clutch.
That helix clutch is in his car now, all up and running.
So I fitted the sach...
This one is now running again after selling it to my brother.
It’s hards a gearbox rebuild by @NorthloopCup, new engine with grp n timing, ktec bodies, cup racer exhaust. Looking forward to seeing what this does when it’s mapped in 2 weeks
Time to start bolting bits back on.
Sadev back from @NorthloopCup after a check over and rebuild 👍🏻
Engine almost ready to go in, just waiting on a flywheel as I ordered the wrong one thinking it was 60-2 trigger pattern but it’s not.
I also managed to machine the top mounts to fit a m18...
Yeah the bearing is a £3 Dunlop by the looks of the part number on it. The spacers they send for the standard cars aren’t ideal either. They could do with making the spacer sit though the whole bearing and meet in the middle like the ktec mount.
Yeah the bearings in the cup racer mounts price...
