So it is, I can picture it now. The nuts over a hollow shaft iirc. I have only had the covers off once. Same sentiment stands though, I was hoping it was the securing device that had let go but it transpires its the whole shaft that's let go :(

Is that a dentist surgery you are working in? Looks very nice. At least its a failure of theirs clearly and couldn't be attributed to wear and tare. I was under the impression the standard 5th gear is held on with some type of circlip/snap ring? No?

I just had an email and I thought this may be of interest to the frequent track day guys at KH.

Everything is interchanagble with some models having different width stub axles but again they can be swapped. Burpspeed noticed that the 182 cup has a thicker width torsion bar built into the beam but that's the only difference I have heard of.

BTW you don't touch the 'bottom pulley' or crank pulley until you have checked the timing as it will slip. If you plan to do anymore without the sump off then remove spark plug no1 and put a long cable tie down into the cylinder so you can see TDC. To answer your question yeah you can bin off...

I have a feeling its been fitted with the wrong springs or shocks. If the advert rings true its a decent car if you can do the belts yourself or get them done cheap. It needs lowered and a cup splitter though.
