    Wheels Wobbling

If it's doing the same with all wheels on the back axle, assuming the mating faces are clean on both wheel and hub and the wheels have all been balanced then it can only be the bearing's on the back. The front is a different story. Saying that...if you have wobbling, just checking the...

    Celica T-Sport 190

Well I had the car out for a good run last night cross country, I'm impressed, it's a brilliant B road blaster and I can't wait to get the new tyres on. I was having so much fun I missed the photo op by 7 miles. Before I went out I worked through a list of common rattles and knocks these...

    Wheels Wobbling

I would pull off the discs and check for rubbish on the hub mating faces before doing your bearings as that's quite a job to do really. Having the screws in stops rubbish getting in behind there while doing wheel changes as well as making it easier to mount your wheels. New wheels shouldn't...

    Wheels Wobbling

I meant 44mm per axle. Also do you run the disc screws on the front? Just thinking something (rust or a stone etc) could have got down the back of the disc/hub mounting face and gave you the wobble. Also how much weights does all your wheels have on them? If it's anything above 70ish grams...

    Wheels Wobbling

To answer one of your questions, yes the new wheels will increase any wobble or highlight any play in your steering/suspension components as they have increased your positive scrub radius by 44mm on that axle which is huge. You'll also notice less stability and stronger wheel centring with them...

    172 - Headbolt Stripped

Cut a bolt or something round to the same size as you have drilled the hole in the bolt. Hammer it in to give the bolt structure again and try what I told you. Guarantee I could have it out. The key is in shocking the threads prior to trying to undo it. You have probably tried to many things now...

Refitted the badge, looks too Halfords so I have a new one coming. The brake pad anti-vibration pads can do one, they have slipped again making a loud grinding noise akin to a fallen out pad so they're coming out. Don't like the things anyway, nothing but bother. The wrong RARB link I have...

    172 - Headbolt Stripped

These are what you want. http://www.mpdirect.co.uk/p/6300/irwin-bolt-grip-fastener-remover-expansion-set?gclid=CLyWqP-J2cUCFc3JtAodSFkAkw As you have done, tighten all the bolts around the rounded one, smash the bolt with a solid drift (ideally brass to transfer the shock from the hammer) on...

I had this set sat at home for me today, I will get around to them very soon. I decided to compression test the engine given the known problems with these engines where the pistons turn oval and the oil control rings was of a bad design that affected many Toyota's of that time. The general...

In good time squire, just put away 2.5k and this one could be yours . Ohh and I forgot, I have a very nearly new set of Continental Sport Contact 5's coming thanks to @baysthebest. I'm also contemplating getting the buckled wheel straightened instead of having the buckled wheel and the...

Cheers. I have ordered a set of luxury pile custom car mats and boot mat in black with grey borders from Premeier Products for the price of a set of genuine mats. Hopefully they turn out well. Wiper, lift bolts and rocker gasket re-ordered today as eBay shat itself for some reason. To give an...

So attempt no. two at the exhaust tonight after receiving the gaskets. All was well untill I spotted this which I have no idea how I missed it. I was pretty pissed knowing I had no gas in my welder and it being Friday night, nothing's ever easy. I chopped and prepped it anyway and went...

Fair enough that sounds like a good comparison, noise can be deceiving, just like the Hondas V-tec, I makes you think you're going faster than you are. Fart in a bean tin comes to mind.

I'd go out on a limb and say they have more than the pace of a 172 if driven properly, you really have to get the gear changes right to keep them on the boil though. Either way I'm not too bothered tbh, it wasn't bought to beat anything or compete in the traffic light GP, it's a stop gap untill...

    Toyo Proxies T1-R 195 50 15 seem rubbish?

Toyo t1-s and t1-r or their other budget range topping tyres need a heat cycle or two put through them first, you'll see the blue'ing of the tread edges once they've started to release the manufacturing oils. At that stage and with the right pressure, come back and re write your review. It will...

    The Knockhill Thread.

Cally I'm not trying to preach but if you go a gear higher on Duffis and Mcintyres and take a later entry on every corner, you'll cut your understeer in half and have a more balanced car through the first 1/3rd of the lap. Did the BMW get any warnings, I have been out with 2 total nibs in...

Two cups two totally different power

I'm going to say down on compression or timing or both. Yours doesn't sound as crisp without even looking at the video. You both have exactly the same exhaust too? Cat fitted etc?

Two cups two totally different power

Saying that though the Renault manual or some revisions of it say to mark your cam pulleys for reference. Depends if you're doing dephaser and exhaust cam fixings and if the belt was set right before you started. On the whole though it's a good indicator someone has tried to eye ball things.

Yeah that would have gave it more of a following but then that goes against what the MR-2 was?? Yeah it all seems fine to the best of my knowledge, it's got a strong kick at 6200 rpm but for the sake of £5 of bolts and a £13 gasket it's stupid not to replace the lift bolts or at least check...

    Celica T-Sport 190

My exhaust gaskets arrived today from Toyota and hopefully the Big Red front caliper rebuild kit arrives in time that I ordered today, the front brakes weren't releasing how I would like after the strip down/paint so I'll do both while I'm at it. There's a rear set of nipples coming too as...

    Celica T-Sport 190

Definitely an alternative to the Clio as far as purchase price but for me you just can't beat the price of a Clio for performance v running costs. Everything is extortionate from Toyota and any main component pattern part ain't too cheap either. But one is a Couoe and the other a hatch.

Story of my life, I buy anything and end up with all the bells and whistles attached haha, I guess that's the Mechanic in me, I'm programmed to find faults. I can't drive cars that are sheds of s**t, I just can't and it's annoying. I'll always get the use of the spend though or budget for the...

I set about the front brakes today. What I started with. Cleaned and painted the backing plates quickly. Chipped off any rust and wire wheeled of the remaining paint. Painted the fronts gold this time as I think it suits better, unsure wether to do the backs to match or run the...

Removeable front bumper - How have you done it?

I haven't fitted them personally but I have seen a lot of race cars use them now for extra security in more intricate places. @Russ Rallye fitted some to his boot about two months ago or so if you want to look up his project thread. Also there is quite a few videos on the net for them.
  26. M

    Celica T-Sport 190

Cheers for that but I would say they're too expensive for this project, looking for something just over the £200 mark fitted. Removal, fitting and balancing of 4 tyres here in Aberdeen will cost you £48 at best and £56 worst

    Celica T-Sport 190

I'll take off the bumper, clean up the tow bar mount and paint it all black so it can't be seen. If I take it off it will leave a cut out in the bumper which will annoy me more than having the bar itself haha, that and it's handy for shunting around my car trailer. Aww no you can't, the GT...

So I take back what I said about pattern parts, typical motor factors.... They can't organise a pish up in a brewery. I got the exhaust off and sure enough the donuts had seen their best. All was well until I went to fit the manifold to centre section donut. It's was nothing like the part I...

    Celica T-Sport 190

Potentially cheap motoring in a sporty model if you get the right car. Thank feck for pattern parts, Toyota were needing circa £90 for this lot minus arb link (which I found knocking about the boot) whereas I got them for a total of £14.92, total spend including the wipers is at £37.96. I hope...
