I was talking to the guy with pink wheels on the 23rd feb hot hatch day... Told me it's a 172...with a 182 engine with cams etc. never went into great detail but it passed me pretty quick. There was him and a mate. Went well on the day.
good read, type R will have the clio most of the time but under the right driver can make a lot of difference, you know your doing well when you pass them.
i more likely have seen you at some point mate. Don't worry about being a "new guy" I have seen 1.2 clios and seat arosa's on the track at the same time as me and you just move out the way when possible. Think of it as a 500bhp evo chasing a clio sport lol.
I went for powerflex rear bushes, anti roll bar and the dog one is from Jason on here (evol engineering) but typical anti roll bars, I got the wrong ones. That leaves just the bottom arms to be poly bushed but they are still pretty good at the mo.
I've read a few posts now and yourself, chip and budgie + a few other always pop in, got to say definitely agree with you's as a few kg here and there is not got to make any difference on a track car and as it is a track car just enjoy it for what it is, just have fun!
only thing I can think...
not a big fan of the open pit lane, all be it only done it when they turn a Hot Hatch day into one due to numbers, just don't like getting chased off Evo's and having to get out the way haha!
I'll be back on the track come April, shame as I do like a reverse day which is the next Hot Hatch...
few video's from Sunday - taking it easy most of the day - no faith in tyre's.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpZGt_MTf5Y - Mini spins of and I let a mx5 by to then get stuck behind him
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NNHo4Or6PU - alot of sliding and then a cheeky spin :)
Had the car in...
never experienced any bother on the day I did have a worry I might be a little lean with both inlet and throttle body being larger, more air and not enough fuel but it felt smooth wouldn't say I noticed a major difference. I think I got a little more lower range but marginal...
When I did fit...
Update time:
so after it's 3rd time out at Knockhill on the 23rd Feb just there, the car ran well no issues to report but had tried my semi slicks for the first time, and running on 15's aswell.
Outcome: not impressed but to be fair the conditions just didn't suit them and they are not like...
my old MG ZS180 pulled away on the last 1/4 of the straight leading up to the hairpin.. different car in the corners. The power delivery from them can be frustrating at times..
Yeah I was thinking more 5bhp than 10 as claimed, but I'll hold out and see. Definitely looking into if extra fuel will be needed, tempted to get it on the rollers to see what I'm putting out.
little update:
today I was fitting my new go faster parts :D. Had a issue when on the track where it went into safe mode, and long story short it turns out to be the throttle body sensor.
its a built in unit so new throttle body was needed. could have went standard but found a guy down...
