Well I've done a little bit this afternoon but my first priority was getting our main car ready for its trip across to Austria. We're going snowboarding in just over a week, so I had to get the winter wheels and tires out to comply with the rules in Europe. The wheels on the Smax were filthy and...
Cheers Tim
Maybe there are people who are looking but not posting??
Thanks for looking, I hope to get it up and running for this upcoming track day season. As with everything it depends upon my time and money. Still plenty of things to buy and lots of jobs to do!!
Well for those that don't read my thread yesterday I gave an update on Mark and my uprated rear brake assembly. Well after development and 3D print the time has come to start making bits
The machinist started making the stub axles yesterday as can be seen in my thread. Here in Marks thread you...
Bit more aqua blasting today, engine mount cleaned up ready for powder coating
In other news progress has been made with @NorthloopCup and my uprated rear brake setup. This is a new design stub axle made from EN24T and a caliper bracket made from 7075T651. This will allow the use of a...
Oh ok, whys that? I have a megane crank cambelt sprocket to replace the existing one with the red dots on. Hopefully be fitting ttv pulleys which would replace the formentioned pulley wouldn't it?
Well no work is to be done tonight as I'm tired
But I did manage to order myself one of these today, which maybe here tomorrow or Thursday
I also order one of these at the same time as I had to borrow a mates
In other news these arrived today  So I can make a start...
Behind every build there is someone who knows what they're doing. With most stuff I'm pretty handy and will have a got at anything. But when it comes to engines I'm a bit apprehensive, the last engine I rebuilt was at college as an apprentice many many years ago, it was a pinto but it didn't...
Quick update for today....
I took the thermostat housing and the manifold it bolts to for Aqua blasting at work today. Rather happy with the results
Again these like the other bits are ready for some paint. The VHT paint was dispatched today so hopefully will receive it tomorrow...
Well today started with taking the little dude for his first skiing lesson (can't wait until he's old enough to snowboard!!)
So back onto the car, I tarted up the hubs a bit where Hammerite had chipped while they were away for the roll centre mod with @NorthloopCup Then I carried on with...
Well I hoped to spend quite abut of time in the garage today but unfortunately it didn't happen like I planned!!
Managed to spare 3/4 hour this evening so here we go.....
I decided to do a little more on the engine so first up I removed the wiring loom final connections on the starter motor...
Took a few Clio related but to work to refurbish. First up were the rear caliper carriers, I started off using the aqua blaster which cleaned the unpainted bits lovely. However it was clear I would need some with a bit more muscle.
After Aqua blasting
While I was using the aqua blaster I...
Well I got the wee man to bed early so thought I'd have an hour in the sunflower. Having had the engine out a few days I've been musing over what bits I want to keep from the sunflower that I could need to put in the RB.
So I started by removing the pedal box as I'm transferring the ph1 loom...
Well yesterday I thought I'd try and get the engine out of the sunflower. I took off the alloy bonnet, setup my engine crane and then realised I didn't have all my lifting slings to hand so had to give up 😞
However my friend came round today with a balance bar and well today was...
Well had a spare 3/4 hours today.....
So I managed to get those pesky heater matrix hoses off
After a number of discussions with @NorthloopCup I decided like many before me to go down the EPAS route. Won't be using the rack etc from the ph1, so rather than splitting pipes and draining I...
@NorthloopCup It does look very similar but doesn't have the raised up mounts in the centre of the front section like Ian's race car one. If I get my finger out and take engine out I'll take it off and take some photos
The 7075 alloy to make the brackets for our rear brake setup is here  Cut the lengths roughly to the right size with the bandsaw
An arty farty photo
The weight of these two pieces of alloy before we machine them to within an inch of their lives to make some lovely brackets :stig...
Yes I'm willing to help mate, however I would suggest crimping in the new section of loom as this will be a more sound joint than soldering. What's happened to the stuff you've taken out?
Thanks buddy
Cheers matey, just not moving as fast as I would like!! But that's due to money and my time to do stuff
With regards to putting a ph1 front end on a ph2, its been done as has a RB ph1
