Yeah, looks about right for the sleeve to be seized to the tensioner.
It is repairable, mine was seized when I did my belts. Knock the sleeve out, clean up and bit of ceramic grease. I just fitted a new pulley on my tensioner as the tensioner itself is bullet proof being just a spring...
The old tensioner, it’s most likely the pivot point where it bolts on is seized I’d guess. There’s a sleeve inside that will be the bottom out of the pivot bolt and the tensioner should pivot around the sleeve. Maybe the two parts have become seized together.
My thoughts are similar regards the two.
I would keep the 200 if I had to get rid of one of my clios (172 & 200) as the 200 feels much better handling to me but sheesh I wish the engine felt better.
It’s just got such a weird/wooly feel as it revs compared to the 172.
I don’t even want more...
Interesting mix of stuff for sure. Saw quite a few cars from Laysdown & evegate meets.
Nice rouse saph there.
My old girl, 3rd meet in as many weeks.
Even Saw a 200 cup there too.
I think the front looks odd without a lip, kind of a large over bite goofy look.
Mine has a trc (I think it’s called) lip, balances the protruding front bumper centre in my opinion.
Funnily enough been using my mrs’ FN2 earlier this week, just back in my 200 today.
Definitely glad I didn’t get one for me, still look forward to driving my 200 after a year.
That McMurtry looks so much faster than the previous hill records, like people say it looked like sped up footage the way it went!
I’m amazed it was ‘only’ that much faster than the IDR having rewatched that and the old F1 run. It just looks insane.
My hero was Justin Law for what he was...
Interesting finding a solution but to be fair to brigsy he’s right in that clutches themselves stiffen up over time.
My old 172 on its original clutch was really heavy, I was always told that’s how they are. I drove a 182 and again it was heavy (heavier than mine in fact). Since I’ve bought a...
May not be related (as you specify when filling up) but the plastic fuel hose (the looped one) in the engine bay is known for breaking. Took me a while to find my fuel leak smell as it was misting a fine spray and evaporating without trace (night time and a torch and it showed up)
I’d prob like the sprint booster, I’m not concerned about any performance gain but just want the pedal to fee the same as my 172.
Best thing I did on my 200 was remove the filter screens from the cam timing solenoid.
Was always randomly flat as a pancake which I hear a lot about the 197/200...
Mine is worse since I had it mapped, noticed it as soon as I pulled away. The whole way home I was just flexing the pedal and it felt like it took way more input for the same response.
I really notice the throttle thing on my 200 as I have a 172 as well. I use the 200 all week and then get in the 172 at the weekend and it feels so responsive. The 172 does have a really good FBW pedal feel.
For me it feels like the pedal travel is just way too long.
I’d like to try the...

Think the recaro seat prices are coming down a bit. They’d got to 1500-1700 for a nice set of yellow dot on FB a few months ago. Seen a couple recently around 1000 and even below.
Looks a clean one!
When I was at school a lad there had a nova for his first car but it was a special edition with the side graphics that made it look wider and came on twin carbs. Would have been a fairly new car at the time. I’d imagine that would be worth a few quid nowadays!
Anyone got a sniff of a new high torque m18 yet? Not looked for a while.
I’ve a feeling there must be one due soon due to the new mid torque appearing a while back.
Yes, as said sounds like ac pump (pulley). Don’t leave it as it will wipe out your timing belt when the pulley fails, belts jumps and goes through lower timing cover.
You ‘can’ leave the the timing belt a lot longer (my last 172 was in 9 years when I changed it and to be honest it looked fine) but it’s the aux belt that will fail and in turn will destroy the timing belt. But don’t leave the timing belt!
Things to replace…
crank pulley (guaranteed it’ll be...
If it’s a 50k mile RB then please don’t go through insurance as it’d write it off.
I’d get it sorted and keep it as it’ll be worth decent money.
or if not, sell it now with a dead engine. If it’s a nice shell you’ll prob still get ok money. Insurance will only shaft you for the next 5 years...
I’d try and find another stock one, always thought mine was a nice tone when saw mate drive it.
My more recent 172 has one of these aftermarket systems with downturned tailpipe and it’s a bit annoying honestly.
People will swear by them but I couldn’t wait to get all the uprated mounts off my car.
Now I’ve just got to stop all the horrible rattles that they’ve created.

*IF* it’s the guy I’m thinking of he seemingly trades them as I’ve seen a fair few on eBay and Facebook all with the centre caps removed because he “can’t match the powder coat” done on all the cars. As I say the FB posts normally descend into people slating him for it etc (why it sticks in my...
