I'll forward on the details of the 2019 championship as soon as they are published.
The 2019 MSA tyre lists are usually published in early November ..... I don't expect my Race DNRT to be on the list as the manufacturing company in Taiwan has gone bust. The ASWMC Championship allows list 1A...
Mutley Mayhem Sprint - 8th Oct 2018
Last sprint of the season - where has the summer gone? Sunday 8th Oct was a really bright, chilly day and a reminder that we are already into Autumn now. The event was organised by Bournemouth and District Motor Club …. and as always it was great fun...
I went for 205s. They were £297 for 4 inc delivery whist the 195s were £257. I've never tried 205s before so I thought I'd give them a go ....... very pleased with them. I don't think the tread depth is as deep as say Rainsports but pretty good. I haven't tried them in the wet though...
Understood.......
I'm going to wait and see what's on the MSA Lists before I invest in any more tyres...... If the Interstate Race are still on the list then I may invest in a set - early Christmas present for the car :-)
Hi Tom - overall are you pleased with the Extreme VR2s? What compound did you go for? I believe there is a full wet version (VR3) coming out next year and it will be List 1B !!!

Morning @Dr Jekyll ……. two pics of the spoiler below. The leading edge was tatty hence I've sprayed the first half inch a matt black colour (see first pic). Note rear wiper delete to save weight :-)
So much junk in the garage …..
In a previous life it was a bit of a show car - I saw...
I believe it's genuine carbon fibre ...... I'll take a photo tomorrow. It was already on the rolling shell ...
It's extremely thin and tings when you flick it ...... not scientific I know but th CF body panels on the old Superlight Caterham had the same "ring". :)
Interesting..... the car already has a carbon fibre rear spoiler but to the original silhouette. You asked is it legal in class? Now that's an interesting question......
11.4.2 of the bible states that ".... luggage / boot cover may be replaced with an alternative material". My argument is...
Don't think you can remove the rear spoiler.... Unless you are in ModProd class?
For road going .....
11.4.1 (page 343) "silhouette of the vehicle must remain unaltered in construction, dimension and material".
Carpets can be removed .... 11.4.6 on page 343. One of my jobs for today :)
I bought myself a heat gun for removing the bitumen backed panels in the boot - masses of the stuff as the previous owner was an audio freak. I'm sure there will be much more under the carpets.
.
Hi Nathan - Wow - that's it then - they are definitely staying in. The A30 can get pretty wet and murky!
Yes - after nearly 20 years of competition driving I am aware that I'm the weakest link :)
But I'm not chasing grams. As my original post said I am looking at a number of ways for...
I'm looking at ways to reduce the weight of my sprint / hillclimb car..... This afternoon I spent a couple of hours with a heat gun removing masses of bitumen sound deadening panels from the boot where the previous owner had put a massive sound system :-(
For my next job i'm thinking about...
Interstate Race DNRT ...... My 205s were £297 a set Inc delivery. They were selling like hot cakes on eBay but may still be some left. Two compounds available ... I had 'soft' for competition use but you may need 'medium' for longer track sessions.
Road legal and MotorSport Association...
Hi .... yes. Being an old cheapskate I bought a secondhand Hero 2 off ebay for £45 complete with 2 batteries and a variety of mounts. I have also bought an external mic but not used it yet as the standard one is pretty good.
Good advice above ... to add .... I've set mine to a narrow 120...
Not a very sophisticated set up: Gaz coilovers ..... The cheap ones not the 'Gold' version. I can't see any brand on the springs or the actual spring rates.... All I know is they are quite harsh on the road but seem very good for track / sprint / hillclimb. Camber bolts on the front to...
No ..... I'm a south west guy. Castle Combe is the furthest east for me. I might try Gurston next year .... There is a test/ tuition day in early spring which would be a good introduction.
Hi Tom ..... you should come down and give it a go ...... Wiscombe is like an 8 hour picnic at a stately home, with the odd bit of fun on the driveway. Camping available in the top paddock to keep the cost down ...nice catering and a beer tent ..... entry fee £70 per day.
Two more snaps from Howie Fowler …… thanks.
These are both just after Bunny's Leap at Wiscombe Park. Its one of the more technical features at Wiscombe as the car goes light over Bunny's - just as you are trying to turn ? Even with rock-hard suspension you can see from these two photos...
Yes - a harness bar would make things a lot simpler :)
The harnesses have new mounts where the back of the rear seat meets the base (if that makes sense) - not ideal as the harnesses are at about a 35 degree angle.
Can you see what I mean in the photo below?
Thanks @JackJack ……… were you competing? spectating?
Wiscombe Park - 1st / 2nd September 2018
I haven't competed much at Wiscombe Park this year so this was a little bit like a reunion with the hill. Great venue, well organised …. and good weather. Lots of old friends there and a great...
Looks very good Tom.
What do you think of the Speedline 2118s ?
I think they are just soooooo heavy compared to my road wheels. I'm tempted to swap them once the current tyres have worn out.
Yes, I know...
I lost the use of my little finger and ring finger about 6 years ago and got into the habit of holding the steering wheel on the spoke. After some very clever surgery to reroute the nerves I now have some feeling back in those two fingers. The legacy is that those two fingers...
Bristol Pegasus MC - Castle Combe Track and Tuition Day (Aug 2018)
This is probably my favourite track day - its really well organised and a great circuit. Its not 'Open Pit Lane' so it may not be everyone's cup of tea... but I love the variety of cars and the friendly club atmosphere. This...
