This passed it MOT rested BTW.
Been using it to work and back a day here and there and I’m pretty impressed. Feels all together apart from the budget tyres.
To that end I’ve ordered these and the Kwik Fit deal on yoko ad08r’s
I’ve also ordered some uniroyal rain sports for the turinis as...
Car failed its MoT on a rear abs sensor. Pretty pleased as I thought this would be an easy fix. Right rear ordered from euros. Good Bosch one. WRONG connector. NLA from Renault. Any advice please????
Also need a front drivers side arch liner. Both parts. Again anyone have one?

Almost finished. I’ve taken the spacers off because the rears would rub. They were 20mm.
It probably needs spacers looking at it though. I might try 10mm and see how it looks. Any opinions please. It’s a non cup suspension with cup turinis.
I also had a go at the handbrake cable but the...
This morning I managed a good stint at the garage before family activities start.
The list from the start:
As you can see I got about half way through.
First the lights are back on.
Bumper ready.
I’ve replaced the fogs with a clear set I got off of @Djw John.
Unfortunately the...
This weekends job was to polish the headlights. On the final straight for the front going back on.
Got some replacements for these.
Got some help polishing.
And finished like this.
Also has some time in the mini today at a local car show (Glamis Castle). Man this car is a good...
It’s been a busy old time with a new job and lots of travelling. Less time to work on the car but 2 evenings a week on my tod leaves quite a bit of time to mess about looking at cars and car parts.
First I handed the fiesta back after only 40 miles in month one it was definitely the right...
Loving the plan. It’s where I’m going with my car. Originally bought to hillclimb or track I’ve changed plans and going the OEM+ route.
Already have the turinis and snappy wheel. Picking up trendlines tomorrow and also planning the Brembo brake setup in future.
Unfortunately I decided to go...
You are supposed to be able to spin the inner and outer sections independently. That’s how an open diff allows you to corner with the inner and outer wheels at different speeds.
It’s time to just start taking the box out in my opinion.

It’s a great thing to do to bring a car up to scratch. Semantics aside you have done a good thing by the car.
To use your car show analogy. It’s more a wheeler dealers than a Car SOS.

Nice one. I bought mine to track but I’ve always been in to original clean looking cars. Some period mods but nothing silly.
On a side note, I’m not sure the Clio only boys on here know what a restoration is. This is a restoration:
I think I spent £7k on that plus this purchase price. And...
So a bit of a faf and definitely a me problem but that’s the cam seals sorted.
Also put a new set of plugs in. Car wouldn’t start but I’ve found the main engine/gearbox earth needs replaced. Got it running by connecting the engine to the battery negative using a jump lead and it’s running...
Thanks. This is my first clio sport. Only drove it for a few days before starting this but i am hooked.
I actually enjoy working on these cars. They are quite nicely out together. I’ve been doh g more and more of this stuff over 10 years. Starting out with just basic maintenance right up to...
I’ve always been of the opinion that you are just buying someone else’s problems with older cars.
Once you have one you are happy with keep it.
Boredom usually puts a spanner in the works for me.

Tonight. New wishbone in drivers side.
Also fitted the quick shift and gear linkage. Fells good for less than £30 [emoji106]
Had to transfer this little rubber section from the old link. Or you could use washers to spacer it correctly. Sorry about the crap photo.
On with the cam seals...
So I have the engine back together enough to start but I have a few issues.
I’m getting some back firing but that should be easy to sort.
More major issue is the oil leak. It’s coming from one of the camshaft seals so I suspect I have pinched one or put them too far in.
Also discovered...
Nice one. I picked mine up for similar money. Just finished doing belts and clutch. Should be ready in the next few weeks.
I might come along to knockhill next week. See how it goes.

And looking back at this post. This is now car number 4 with this now being car number 5. Really enjoying this wee classic French hot hatch.

And it’s in.
Shiny new sump.
I am missing one sump bolt. The joys of project cars. If anyone local (central Scotland) has one spare give me a shout.

I’m a good few months without doing much with this car. Mostly because I’ve been fannying about with the gearbox. But with some time off work this week and loads of work it’s back together. Here is my brother Robert giving it a kiss.
And now the engine and gearbox are back together...
