What causes the gear stick to return to the central position? Are there any springs or bushes that can be replaced?
Reason I ask is for a while mine hasn't felt stiff/accurate , its very vague/sloppy.
I'm also able to select reverse without lifting the gear knob up, I just push it across from...
What's the name of the spring that keeps the gearstick in a central position also what's the name of the part that you slip over when you select reverse gear?
Will check that out.
If it's not that I guess next up is synchromesh problem?
Is that a box out and gearbox rebuild job?
Is there any point buying a 2nd hand box when it could be as knackered as my current one.

I've got a cliosport 172 cup, today I was unable to change down to 1st or 2nd unless I selected reverse first.
Any ideas as to what the solution could be?

Good driving roads and come off the m5 at junc 25, thru taunton and 10 mins later your on decent roads climbing up to Exmoor.
Or meet Bridgwater then either head up over the quantocks or along the coast road towards Minehead then get up on the moor?
I think if you sorted a good days driving you can pull in some members from worcs/midlands area and the south west bristol/somerset.

Driving home last night and into work this morning ( 2 miles lots of speed humps) the cel and airbag lights didn't go out, coming home today they went out.
Just done the car self diagnostic check and it's showing a code 19L

I'm going to have to get my clutch changed due to the sticking clutch release bearing, is it worth doing anything else whilst the sub frames lowered?

All cambelty bits and waterpump replaced and new exhaust fitted.
Unfortunately coilovers were seized so couldn't be adjusted, steering pumps leaking and clutch release bearing is sticking.
My 172 cup has kw coilovers , i'd like to change it due to it being rock hard.
Now i understand to go stock i'd have to buy suspension top hats due to my coilovers not having them?
My plan was to just get stock cup shocks and eibach springs and get rid of the coilovers,

Just a quick update , cars off to dan on monday for the cambelt and to have the new ktec super stealth exhaust fitted.
Future plans are get the suspension sorted, it's very crashy on road with the coilovers, think i'd like to go back to stock.
Safe to say i'm not a fan of the drone, will be getting a patern part then when that rots out will of had more time to research stainless systems as well as more cash.
