Re: PS4 pre-order
Sony do have a habit of shooting themselves in the foot it seems.
I do think that it's the more capable gaming machine though, from initial cross platform titles and developer feedback.
As said, they can re-instate pretty much ALL the restrictions via software updates which...
Re: PS4 pre-order
I can honestly say I won't miss DLNA.
VT65 > DLNA for videos / HDD Access.
Ipod / MBP / Arcam 280 > Stereo
Dedicated Blu Ray Player > Blu Rays / CDs.
If it proves as capable a games machine as it sounds like it could be (i.e developers able to produce true 1080 progressive...
Re: PS4 pre-order
Pretty much my thoughts too. I know a lot of people will be disappointed to lose the functionalities, but for me they're pretty much a none issue.
I think Sony are trying to streamline the OS as much as possible, getting rid of those features least used, while those that...
Re: PS4 pre-order
I'm sure I saw the MP3 statement on avforums.com with a link to the source but it seems its just a rumour they'll introduce it.
I think Sony will backtrack and allow DLNA support. At least I hope so - it'll be a dealbreaker for some.
Re: PS4 pre-order
Xbox one isn't able to play MP3 files either, the rest it hasn't confirmed either way.
Sony are receiving significant feedback on this announcement which are being passed to the PS4 development team - I have a feeling DLNA support will be re-instated.
1600 x 900 vs 1280 x 720!
So a 50% difference in total pixel ouput - hell of a difference on a launch title cross platform game :S
Nice to see solid 60fps from both though.
I can't decide between a MBP w/Retina, i5, 8GB RAM and 128 SSD or MBA (non retina), i7, 8GB RAM and 128 SSD :(.
Nice chunk off both with HE discount though :)
I was going to go for Sr60s, followed by sr80s but have decided on either AKG 550s or Fidelio X1s! Can't deny the Grado smooth signature and looks though.
^ That looks great - nice job, how're you finding the Kuro? It STILL looks fresh even today!
Also, mentioned I was after a set of headphones for music / movies / gaming and was looking at Grado sr60ii - i've decided on these now :

The one thing that put me off was the flex in the carbon fibre chassis. Just wish Apple had added retina display into the MBA lineup then it'd have been a no brainer!
Lol, behave.
Really happy with the Quad / Arcam combo right now, though i'm tempted to upgrade the 11L2s to some 23Ls in the future along with a hefty amp upgrade.
Re: PS4 pre-order
Pre-ordered today mate. Asked Amazon CS on a few seperate occasions if pre-Christmas delivery was guaranteed and they assured me it was.
Thinking KillZone and BF4 are the games to get. What's everyone else ordered / ordering?
Haha no worries. How are you finding it?
Bi-wired and bi-amped the fronts today (more clarity as a result) :
Need some braiding to hide the blue cable and finish off now.
Also researching into a decent set of open back headphones for games / music / movies at night. Currently looking at...
Re: PS4 pre-order
Pre-ordered the console alone via Amazon who assured me it'd be second batch release and here in time for christmas, which is good as it's a present off the folks :)
Just need to buy a game or two, and a decent set of headphones :)
For the extra 1k I couldn't justify the negligible improvement in black levels. This will last me 1 - 2 years until OLED 4k becomes justifiable (and stable). LED 4K isn't for me. The same inherent flaws as current LED tech (though Plasma's FAR from perfect).
Pffft, when I get the rest of that hulking twin 4mm Vandamme cable. Plus all the TV cables WERE tidy before the new TV arrived.
Alsi VT65 black levels are so so close to, if not matching 9th gen Kuro levels! Happy, happy, happy.
Just need an Arcam AV receiver, Quad power amp, PS4 and i'm happy.
Crap photo (will get a decent photo tomorrow)
The Arcam 280 seems to be coping fine for now, so going to use the unused 6 + 7 channels to bi-amp the fronts. Then keep an eye out for an Arcam 400 at a decent price (the Arcam sound is so smooth!).
