I was looking for an R27 2 yrs ago, needed to be mint.
I viewed many & none were.
A dealer offered me a fully spec'd 197Cup that it's lady owner could not get on with.
Went to view, GW 197 Cup with black speedlines, air con, recaro's etc etc thought i'd hate it.
But on viewing & condition...
Good to met you all, it was a steep learning curve for me!
Got any vids of the first time out on track or even better my off road at the Esses (who's was the yellow clio with novice badge?:D)
All i've ever learnt about trackdays had to be thrown out window & start again.
No longer trail...
I'd spend it on trackdays & tuition & you will soon see brakes are fine as is handling.
Std 197 is very accomplished car if you can drive, not think you can drive;)

These are the latest £ for £ best buy according to forums...
Especially when pushing on & you wear out the mich mans head on side of tyre, side walls are too soft.
Very good road tyre/wet track tyre but gets destroyed by RS2's on road & track
Hankook Rs2's or Federal RSR's.
Both are road legal so stick on car drive to circuit & back again.
Leave mine on from March till it gets too cold.
Done a good few road miles & will be 4 trackdays since April still wearing even & plenty of tread to go.
My avatar is my tyres.
Panny plasma everytime for me.
@ work we have all sorts of makes of screen from 32" to 65" & over the pannys are excellent.
Don't get too anal about pictures etc as the avforums do (so of them look for faults i just watch the match) as everyones taste is different ;)
The claim culture has started to bite !
Us old bstards should be alright;)
Also when your motor reaches certain age panels etc become rare hence costs spiral.
I binned the CS3's & replaced with Hankook Rs2's, runs rings round the competition.
Next time i'm trying another unknown make federal RSR's as these are control tyre for some race series & getting good reviews.
5 was due service so took along to race prep company & they used the above.
The oil i used for last 6 months was Shell helix Ultra & it was well dirty so did it's job of flushing out crap!
There race cars use this as 5's have the Ford 2.0 unit in them.
Total price for service £100, included...
Warren my 197 was quicker than my Trophy over my test route by quiet a margin.
Mainly down to better brakes ala lot more confidence where it counts & far more compliant on the edge.
But that was then.
Now i'm loving RWD. :)
Just get PF pads, Hankook RS2's & take brave pills;)
Very good, well balanced car so stick with it.
Going back to a 182 you would loathe the brakes, g/box etc etc.
Soon though you will get bored, i did.
I found outright lap times became boring & moved onto less grippy tyres to have more FUN!
Controlling slides & drifts, getting the basics correct was a lot more enjoyable & taught more car control.
Also sooner rather than later you may experience the...
