Not seen the supersprint up close, write-up would be good when you get the time Kev.
Just had a quick look on their site-did they custom fab yours as a stealth or is it a new line & they've just not updated the image set yet?
As for the Ktec, i didn't rate mine... at all. Sound...
Cheers I'll have a look see if I can find any old posts, be interested to read into this
Curious about the 2.25" with the 4-2-1 seeing as the general consensus would appear to suggest the 4-1 would favour the peaky flat shifting setup on the racers. Just wondered if on the...
Fred, was it you who did some dyno trialling of 2.25 versus 2.5" a while back I cant remember. Curious how the 2.25" would run with the 4-2-1 mani.
Apologies for drifting off topic...:o
Lol, I jest about the claimed weight Jack-I just wondered if it was as factual as their output claims... ;)
Next time you remove it you're more than welcome to use the balance though by all means :)
Would you say the scorpions better built than the BTB Kev? I've never actually had a look...
Good write up, nice to see it back together. Credit to Fred & Sam.
With the new rear beam on??? :dapprove: It was straight, it aligned on the mounts right? Still have the mount bolts/bracket off it at mine pal.
Chris, care to elaborate on the flighty back end that you experienced with the coilovers (presumably AST/Bilstein Cup series dampers as you never mentioned them being front coil units only?). I did read that right that it was your opinion that you thought the back end was more planted once you...
Tony knows his onions, the ARB would presumably compliment the soft damping of std dampers with the eibachs. Aren't the majority of the cheaper front only coilover setups also supposed to be quite softly damped?>
Roflcopter-every KTax/Janetspeed system ive heard has that same irritating drone at motorway speeds. Such a quality product! :clown:
My opinion would be to ditch it & buy a btb or Yoz/JP (or for the benefit of Gaz, std) system :)
This looked to be a nice solid project platform Steve, with what you said you had planned it'll be minty fresh!
Will enjoy following the progress on this pal
Considering as the three 172 systems discussed above are much of a muchness in weight, suppose it is a little surprising. I've never actually seen the pics from when you put yours on a precision balance Jack-post them up.
Not sure if you've seen before, but someone previously posted a reply to a question on rough build spec he got from one of the s1600 project engineers. Interesting to see if they'd field more specific questions?
Just weighed Mikes BTB Stealth on the balance in the lab at work (incl clamp & secondary hanger). Needless to say, it wasn't 18kg.
15.406Kg including the secondary hanger, 14.904kg without.

Fair enough, but still doesnt answer my question by giving any kind of factual reasoning. I'll get some pics of mine that were properly prepped & run with shims too (in exactly the same way as if ground to sit with sufficient clearance with just the carriers). Funnily enough, after ~8000 miles...
Interesting... So if the expansive properties of the pads can be considered a constant between shims/no shims, & if as stated the shims don't expand significantly- then what is the actual reason that having the shims in is an issue? Bearing in mind the frictional properties of ss versus the...
@ KL-expert forum opinion would apparently dictate they squeal 'with' the shims.
Something or other to do with ~mil thick stainless freakishly expanding a gazillion times its original volume when heated iirc.
Sounds pretty dangerous :(
Indeed. The stainless shims defy physics and have a different vhc to all other SS in the world in terms of their expansive properties. When heat cycled, the shims puff up like expanding foam iirc. :dead:
Cheers Craig, be interested to hear how they compare :)
Surely some of the forums esteemed in-house experts must be able to voice an opinion on the blacks?
Dave, couldn't see it specified in the qualifying criteria but are the policies available on an adhoc basis or simply on a 12 month term? Would only need to have it on the road on a couple of occasions to verify everything would be working properly.
Cheers
Looks quite pale, have they done another shade of yellow? You didn't take the bumper off did you? Could've just removed the arch liners and unscrewed the fogs.
Really liking the f1s, huge improvement pal. I think Giraffe was suggesting the typical profile most run is 195/50/15.
Overall its coming along nicely :)
