Hi all, where can I find the crank sensor on my 172? I'm trying to clean it up as I suspect it's got something to do with the car not starting properly. Many thanks!
Sooo today I fitted something new to the car.. Aero flat blades!

Mine were totally ruined, no rubber left on the bloody things so I bought these new ones off of amazon for £6! Bargain tbh. Look great and work fantastically.
Big day tomorrow for cleaning ;) see you all at CSS!
Did your car when putting into gear and pulling away judder at low revs? Mine does that and it does need the clutch release bearing doing. Thanks mate!
Try elephant.co.uk.
I'm 19 with 0 NCB, 1 claim against me and have been driving for nearly 2 years. I'm paying £1800 for the year on a 172. Worth shopping around!
I didn't no. I was extremely lucky as somebody was selling a set which were a month old for £100. I put a deposit in immediately and he lived fairly local so went and collected the following day. Very very happy with them and rate them extremely highly.
Thanks Luke :) if you want to see the...
Just a quick update to this thread, in the end I went with cooksports and it was the best idea. Ride is spot on and handles like its on rails - amazing upgrade.
I think once its gotten bad enough that the noise is there (must be bearings), it won't then magically disappear unfortunately - which is what I was hoping for lol. Have to say, I'm now not so worried about the noise as its very very faint and quiet.... But am slightly worried about the squeaky...
Hello mate yeah it was me :p I was driving back from tescos that way and thought I'd stop by and have a little look! Car looks spot on! Could do with a clean though ;)
Busy day today! Topped up my gearbox oil all of the way (took 2 litres in the end to fill it up) and also changed my spark plugs aswell as cleaning the inlet and main block!
Only spent about 20 minutes cleaning as it got very boring after a while... Lol.. But the car runs much much better now...
I haven't tbh. BUT to fill it up I had to put in nearly 2 litres of gearbox oil. The noise in 5th gear is barely noticeable now, much much quieter but the little squeak from 4th - 5th is still there. All in all, worth topping up. Let us know what is said tomorrow about your box!
Topped up my gearbox oil yesterday night as I had a whine in 5th gear and suspected it was low. Put a whole litre in and it still didn't top it up completely so it was low! Shame I will have to take it all apart again to put more in but jobs are always easier the 2nd time round :)
Gearbox feels...
It wasn't mate unfortunately, it was 100% a 172 as didn't have the twin exit exhausts! And I still need to come visit you one evening and have a look at your car - I even drove past your way yesterday night on the way to tescos!
Yeah but they attract police, and I don't want any reason to be pulled over tbh! And also they don't fit in the recessed hole properly? It's fine as it is :p
Bloody hell. Just tried it and it undone straight away - that's annoying! Anybody know the size of the hole? I've got some 16mm flexi pipe but I think that may be too big?
Personally I drilled mine and they've come out well. The boot lid already has 2 holes pre drilled (my original plates were stuck on with sticky pads which suck) , but I just drilled 2 new holes in the boot as it wouldve been near on impossible to line them up correctly and have it straight! and...
I paid £26.50 or something in total for them and the screws to fit them. That was with a mates discount card. Sort of needed them there and then as I had no plates on the car! Which for the record looks pretty strange lol.
I had them made up at halfords, they're completely blank pretty much (says halfords in centre but it blends in with plate) erm, didn't get smaller ones as its something I've never really thought would make it look better. To me number plates are number plates :p I'm going to have a go topping up...
Little update!
The car came with some personalised plates on it which the owner has taken back, so I've had some nice new ones made up and fitted them this evening!
