There's half your problem. I've had about 15-20 RS's over the years, and as long as they're looked after nicely, they get better with miles.
My current shed is on 105k and goes as well as ones i've owned with half the miles on.
Yep, adjust the bracket to be straight on and job done.
Use a pair of grips to hold the bracket at the correct angle while you tighten the shock bolt or it'll move round as it tightens.
