Not sure what year your car is but my old Valver needed a metal gasket at the front where it joins the down-pipe and some sealant and paper gasket would be a good idea at the other end.

Place i use chemically strip the wheel then repowder-coat it, usually takes them a couple of days.

Going back to the weights.
When i was in the MOT station last week i noticed that they had the 16v as being heavier than the williams on there Autodata sheets.
But they also had the 172 cup as only being 10kg lighter than the 172.
