Cheers guys. Not really too keen on the lens anyway so no big deal if it is the lens. On a side note. 35 or 50mm prime? Can only afford the one at the min.
No its pretty much the same over the frame with the horse being the best in focus. Having said that, having read reviews of the 16-85, a lot of people are saying the images are a little soft and even the 18-105 is sharper.
The Oly would have sharpened in camera - there has been no processing...
So I took a bunch of pics with the D90 and 16-85mm lens at a horse show. Nearly all pics came out looking like the one below.
All around F6 and shutter speeds of 1/1000 - 1/1600.
For me, the quality just does not cut it. Could be down to my chosen settings (3d tracking being one of them), but...
To be honest, these days both Canon and Nikon have a range of lenses to suit everyone and every budget. You just need to be happy with the body. It can't be said enough that you should pop in to a local camera shop and try them out.
Never used a filter on my Olympus, never had a mark on the lens either - even though it got bashed a wee bit.
Now.... my Nikon lens is worth considerably more than the Oly... worth putting a filter on as extra protection... or just be careful? As its 16mm at the wide end I have to be careful...
Had a play with both bodies today side by side. D90 wins hands down for ease of use, layout of controls and overall feel. Felt much better in the hands and better build quality. Sadly I forgot to take my own SD card to take a few test pics in the shop that I could have compared at home. The D90...
After shooting with my wee Olympus E-620 for a year or so, it's time for a change.
Managing to sell around 30 odd prints at each horse event I am attending, but with the darker evenings coming, the poor Oly just cant cope.
Above ISO 400 you can really start to see the noise, so I feel its time...
Yeah think that has a micro motor rather than HSM - AF will not be as fast but probably not noticeable! Only issue may be with Image stabilization if you need to use a slower shutter speed.
What about the Nikon 55-200 VR?
Can highly recommend for a cheap zoom TBH!

What Nikon have you got? The 18-200 Sigma you listed does not have HSM so will not auto focus on anything but D90 upwards.
PC running 60FPS, consoles 30FPS.
MW3 runs at 60FPS on all formats.
Over the weekend, DICE confirmed that Battlefield 3 will run at 30 frames per second on consoles, half the framerate of the PC version. The developer claims that this will allow a greater degree of graphical detail whilst...
Still looks pretty good for consoles TBH!
MY GOD WHAT ONE SHOULD I GET!! I don't have many online friends who play this kinda game so not sure if I would be better suited to MW3 or this for online play!
