I ditched the 14-42 for the older 14-45 lens. IQ is comparable, but the zoom ring, metal mount and OIS switch makes the lens much more appealing! Slightly smaller too!

T3i is the American version, you will see a lot of ebay sellers selling these as they import them for cheap. No real difference apart from the branding.
