    Car 'squeak'

Just for clarity, where the coil meets the damper - metal on metal - where i've drawn the red arrows. Spray WD-40 in there. Worth a try.

    Car 'squeak'

They usually come with the spring - see a picture of something similar. The factory springs had a clear piece of sleeve fitted both ends of the coil. I have the Eibach Pro_kit springs on mine and they don't have them as standard, so i bought some plastic sleeves off eBay. Just to stop the end...

    Locking wheel nut

I had a mare with mine - lost the locking key - I had the floating collar design. You might be able to hammer a socket over that or use one of those locking wheel nut removal sockets from Amazon. It might help if you torque the other bolts up a bit more first before you try it. I messed around...

    Car 'squeak'

Do your springs still have the coil isolators (plastic spring sleeves) intact? They serve multiple purposes - mainly noise reduction - stops the metal on the spring tips and damper from coming into contact with each other. They also help with Vibration dampening, spring wear and corrosion.

What have you done to your car today ???

It was a bad batch from the original suppliers a few years back. I had to change mine after 3 track days due to perishing.

    newbie here with RB 182

I had mine done by them. I’d give them a 6/10. I ended up cleaning my old ones up as the belts wouldn’t retract properly and the material didn’t feel quite right. Sorry, in typical CS fashion we seem to have hijacked your thread 😂

    newbie here with RB 182

He did engine work on one of my 182-track cars. He took an age, but I couldn't fault the workmanship.

The everlasting ph1 ITB Build **GREEN-BUILD STARTS AT PAGE 100**

It must have been difficult to bring a project like this to life. I imagine that in the early stages, it consumed much of your focus and energy. Now that it’s finished and ready for use, your mind is already shifting toward the next challenge or opportunity. Sometimes, creating them is more...

    Few leaks here and there

Welcome to the forum. I can’t help with number 1. Whilst I’ve replaced tie rods, covers, rod ends, I’ve never had to deal with a leaking seal on the rack itself, which I suspect this is what it is. Incorrect fluid or overheating due to track use I suspect. Not sure how successful replacing...

    172 Cup photo thread

There was one at Croft yesterday racing in the 750 MC Armed Forces Challenge that looked identical to yours. It was going well.

    New Clio 182 Track Project

SORN the Clio, gave the old girl a quick clean up, ran the fuel down, gave everything a spray with Atom-Mac, removed the battery and stored her away until next season. I was a bit peeved that I couldn't do the last Trackday at Croft, as pretty much everything has been sorted now. Still, that...

    172 Cup OEM+

Yeah, you often hear people say they have heavy clutches but they don’t. Everything is nice and light when the parts aren’t worn out.

    182 eating a LOT of oil :(

Funny enough, I was talking to Andy yesterday about my current track car engine as he built it. Knows his stuff.

Are you going to rebuild it yourself?

    182 eating a LOT of oil :(

Good plan. When my daily starts causing me problems and I can't be arsed fighting with it anymore. I'm going to combine all the good bits from my 2 182s to make one good one.

    182 eating a LOT of oil :(

I assume you're in the UK? Try 10W-40 synthetic oil - it’s a good choice for year-round driving. My 182 daily, with 87,000 miles and a full-service history, burns under half a litre of oil every 1,000 miles. I think that’s pretty reasonable for a 19-year-old car that’s probably been thrashed...

    Fuel filler cap bolts

These come with the fuel flap, so I’d just measure the bolt length and the thread, then get a few hex bolts and nuts to match - preferably Black.

    TP-link Deco Reoccurring Issue

TP-Link stuff is garbage. My son has the Deco mesh in his house and he’s always complaining. I’ve just switched to Yayzi - £35 for 1GB on a 30 day rolling contract. They supplied me with Aginet TP-Link router. 450 mb in the front room and 46 mb through a plasterboard wall into the adjoining...

    172 in a mk1, Superfatdan's very very long project....

We have some awesome techies, but another common-theme is: “Mike, when can you look at my missus Tucson?” Mike: “Who’s bringing it in?” Me! Mike: “Take it to Halfords”. Now I’m never sure if it’s because my missus is younger and better looking than me - sorry no pics - or that I’m a...

    172 in a mk1, Superfatdan's very very long project....

The garage is only as good as the person doing the work. It's a common-theme: the original owner gets a good rep, brings in more help, and next thing you know, you've got a monkey wrench in the works. Healthy order book means they never get around to sorting it until it’s too late. Seen that too...
