I'm only going for the SSD version as it will probably get a bit of abuse and storage is not needed. Think I will go for XP as I think I will eventually get annoyed with linux!! Did you try that fan programme?

Does XP run fairly quick? It will be the 1GB ram model. Then again, anything will run faster than my home PC!!

Having decided on the SSD for the Acer, I now need too decide between Acers Linux set up or get XP. I used the Linux version in Currys and it seemed ok - but what are the down sides to Linux? If anyone has the Aspire, what OS do you recommend?

Not really, I have a holiday where I take loads then go through periods where I only upload 1 or 2 a month! Only uploaded 4 this month and 5 in Jan and 9 in December. Most of my hits are from photos taken last May or ones of my Cat from last year, its a fairly decent tick over of hits for older...

I get an average of 200-300 views per week, and my photo stream is pretty boring lol My most popular is a pic of a Tank with 169 views - its not even a good pic!

You can probably get a much better handset for free, then flog it and buy the 6500 on PAYG for £100, therefore getting you your phone + some cash :)

True - but this is just for web browsing and looking at pics from a SD card etc. The main computer is used for all the storage malarky!

Well that looks like a pretty easy decision! Its not for file storing of any type, so looks like thats the choice!!! Plus its cheaper too! :)

16GB solid state or 160GB hard drive? Will be running XP and the ACER has dedicated SD slot which could be used to run another 16GB SD. Use is just for surfing the web so really not sure if the HD is needed. Plus solid state should be more impact resistant if the little bugger gets thrown...

Need a compact travel laptop asap and if possible on an interest free plan. Ideally looking at 12-13" screen size and max of 2KG. I like the look of the Acer TM6292, which has some great reviews...

Are they branded at all? They are doing a cheapo w302i that will tide the misses over, but on Virgin PAYG its only £50, on orange and voda its more - do they brand them at all or all they all from the same unbranded stock? I know the LG Cookie is unbranded and unlocked no matter what...

55-200 is a great lens for the money, used to have it a while back. As for the 50, remember unless you get the AF-S version you will have to manual focus. Current price difference - about £200!!!

Scores mean nothing anyway, different magazines seem to like different things! Eurogamer only gave MGR4 an 8, and GOW 2 got a few 8's and 9's. User reviews are ok, but different gamers like different things so you never get a really good review until you play it yourself!

9.4 is a cracking score, but still needs to improve to beat its xbox 360 exclusive titles (according to IGN scores anyway!) Nice to see some decent titles finally reaching the PS3.

The SB-400 is a good flash for the D40 - plus it can be bounced. But would rather save for that prime than get a flash! I love my fifty!

Whats CS8? Is it a gut down version like elements? I'm using CS3 packagae at the moment which includes indesign, bridge etc. Pretty sure CS4 is out now though. Its expensive though, like £400 expensive (just for photoshop CS4!)
