I would get the 70-300 APO version with the motor, the Nikon 70-300 VR is nice, but its nearly 3 times the price of the Sigma!
The 55-200 Nikon VR is good, but I think you will appreciate the extra length of the Sigma.
VR is good in some respects, but not a necessity.
Anyone own one of these? Interested as it is fairly compact and the one I am looking at has a great spec.
I can live with the glossy finish as long as its fairly scratch resistant.

Not true. The 70-300 APO is motorised (not HSM but a different type of motor), and not by a internal focus screw (the D40/D60 does not have one).
From DP Review:
'Sigma offers Nikon D40 and D60 DSLR owners more reach for less outlay with the launch of two tele zooms with built-in focus...
I was concerned about the lack of anti shake, but to be honest you learn to live without it. I have the twin lens kit, remote and will be picking up a pancake soon too. All fits in a tiny lowepro bag too!

Very light, quick, easy to use, loads of features found in higher end cameras etc.
Only uploaded a few to flickr but here they are...
Storage unit - not actually on site premises - most garages have one hidden away somewhere - or not so hidden in this case!
Think your right there... but surely such a compound should have CCTV?!!!
Good all rounder indeed, has dust reduction, live view etc. Not the largest set of lenses out there but I am just a casual photographer and it suits me down to the ground.

TBH I was sucked in to the VR appeal when I was using my D60. but now I am using the Olympus which has no form of stabilistation at all I am finding myself making more use of all the settings and its been great!!
APO version 100% - having to manual focus all the time is not my thing and the...
Well... most people are going to suggest a Nikon D40/D60 or Canon 350D/400D/450D as they are all at the lower end of the price scale.
But I am different and I recommend the Olympus E-420... small, light, packed with features and very good value for money.
I have the twin lens bundle that cost...
Went last year and was going to go back this year but went to Marwell instead... huge mistake TBH. Marwell just does not cut it IMO. Small inclousures, bit tired and dirty looking. Love Longleat, great piccies!
From gamespot/IGN etc:
How many cars and tracks will Forza 3 boast? According to the documents, the game will sport more than 100 tracks and over 400 cars with "near-limitless customization options for car tuning and custom artwork." The documents also promise the game will introduce several...
Active D-lighting is more than likely on - turn it off and problem will be fixed :)
Its easily done - I have turned it on by accident before many times - hope it solves your problem!
If not... I'm stuck!
