I was just thinking the same lol. Like a CS meet, but with more fords.
Not a single checkered shirt, gillet, deck shoes, beige chino wearing BMW/Audi owner in sight 😂
Bet the car park outside looked like this:
I' have the Cossie please. The Mustang just looks too 'Murica for me.
And that interior, lord above, did they pull it straight out of some hill billies pickup 😂
Yeah, the newman is a fairly mild cam compared to the Cat though! It did 195WHP (circa 225ATF) at 1320 this time last year (when it was mapped again) & doesn't feel any different tbh, certainly no slower. I'm not that bothered, at the end of the day its got 100k hard miles on it now, all on the...
Ah lovely, cheers Tim!! Couple more:
And then yesterday, & realising on Saturday how rank it was looking, i took it to the Eastern Europeans for a clean.
Not too shabby under the dirt 😌
215bhp, so a little less than the 225 or so that i expected, but i'll just put that down to hotter inlet temps (over 50oC when it went on the rollers) and possibly a slightly aging s/c loosing a bit of boost perhaps. Will post up the graphs tomorrow, but it was just a nice smooth curve, ie more...
Just for reference, I don't really like minis when they have standard power, but the difference between 200bhp/good brakes and a normal one is monumental! I fitted a pulley to mine, then loved it so much I bought a GP1 lol ...
Yup, works perfectly well!!
I actually bought one like the one in the OP last year, but the iPhone/plank of wood is far easier to use & seemed more accurate.
Clio camber was fairly easy tbh, fit camber bolts, set to max negative 😂
Mini is much harder, set the meister r's to max...
Nah, this things a part of the family, hence me spending money on it instead of just buying once already done.
Selling it would be like selling Sarah's brother 😂
She also loves driving it, which makes justifying expenditure very easy ...
Oh ffs lol. I put it in the way it looked correct, faffed about for an hour & a half putting it in, taking it out, dismantling it all, to work out the specific order it needs to go to bolt it all in, fitted the seat, then realised that that's as far forward as it would go. By this time it was...
Too much lol.
All in, since i've bought it, including buying the car and all the modified parts it owes me £5k.
1320's service/repairs/labour (once the stuff is done next week) will be circa £1.5k. So i'll have put £6.5k into it in total.
Not horrific, but more than i originally intended to...
Managed to have a little tinker with the mini on Sunday.
Firstly, the windscreen washer jets were barely working, rather confusing as it had a brand new pump fitted just before i bought it off Richard!! So i pulled it all apart, cleaned the filter out, checked all the relays etc and all was...
Depends what you want really, standard for standard, as a daily, with a bit of luxury, spec & rattles, the mini is better, but for just going for a drive/doing a trackday, the clio is better. When modified, they are two ways of skinning the same cat, boost vs NA, stiffer/heavier shell vs lighter...
Being honest, standard for standard, a clio is better. You need to mess about with the mini to get the best out of it!! Re: mpg, again, far better when mapped.
Ha ha, yup, the badge is OEM, as is the rest of the car, which for a 2003 M3, is probably quite rare 😂
Still enjoying it tbh, had a bit of a wobble last week when someone wanted to potentially buy it, but it wont be going anywhere for the time being i don't think. Its just a pain...
Yeah, they are the same PCD as the clio and a very similar offset, so the 16" Clio Turinis are a good fit, especially useful as they are cheap on here, but expensive on Minitorque :tongueclosed: Inter forum trading FTW lol.
Re: comparisons, i did one here: The Flamers replacement - Mini Cooper S
Subscribed. Ours was awesome, I especially loved the way the steering wheel moved out the way when you got in/out of it. Oh and the v8. The fact it was only £450 was the icing on the cake really. Miss it tbh, such an epic barge.
I've briefly touched on the differences in my thread here: http://www.cliosport.net/threads/another-mcs-the-track-day-toy.755737/
But essentially after a trackday at Bedford:
The Trophy was however ALOT more forgiving than the Mini on the road, the Sachs dampers were just sublime - perfectly...
Thanks!!
Just bought the facelift gearbox as well.
Man Maths kicked in buying it - as i saved £100 labour on fitting (the lsd is still in the FL box, so it would save 1320 time taking it out & transferring it into my pre-FL box) so once ive sold my g'box, its probably a free upgrade lol...
Little update on this, as i finally decided what to do over the weekend ... I bought both :tongueclosed:
Picked up a Quaife from the Trackmini forum yesterday morning for £370, then 5 minutes ago ordered the following from Orranje (with a 10% discount & free delivery, sorry Russ!):
Safety...
£17.40 for Sky Line rental
£10 for unlimited 38MB fibre
£5.99 for Netflix HD
Freeview/iPlayer/OnDemand etc through my Xbox One
Then my parents Sky Go on the iPad if needs be.
By saving money on Sky TV that i dont need, i can spend more on fancy toasters & kettles.
Tbh, its not so much us crashing it i'm worried about, its some other muppet running out of talent!!
Was quite a bad accident at Bedford recently where someone got t-boned and made a right mess of the poor car that got hit. Potential removal is a good point re: residuals though, forgot about...
