    Painting inside of car

I did mine with Halfords primer and aerosols. usual preparation and it was easy to keep on top of it after a long season.

    Front offside caliper carrier

Ok. LH side is 7701047928 RH side is 7701047929 You can’t cross thread a carrier as it bolts to the hub, then the calliper attaches to the carrier via the sliders. If the sliders are cross threaded then they’re readily available from Bigg Red...

Restoring Little Bluey - my 182 FF ClioSport in Racing Blue

I lobbed a really hot bolt into a glass of it and immediately filled the kitchen with smoke. It didn’t ignite as it wasn’t red hot - I’m not sure of the flash point - but I wouldn’t like to think there was a naked flame near it. I’m probably being over dramatic but I jumped out of my skin 😂 The...

Restoring Little Bluey - my 182 FF ClioSport in Racing Blue

Pushing on as I only have a few days spare between now and Croft in Sept. A morning on the brakes and changing the fluid. DS2500 in the rear. DS1.11 in the front with new Brembo HC discs. Always liked that combination. Plus it’s an opportunity to re-torque the bolts, get some more...

Restoring Little Bluey - my 182 FF ClioSport in Racing Blue

Thanks Rich. Just a fine balance I guess. Trying to get around Cadwell is tricky if you’re sitting too far back. Not too bad at Croft as the corners are faster. Incidentally, how’s your build coming on? Don’t see many updates these days. Still places at Croft on 25th 😉

Restoring Little Bluey - my 182 FF ClioSport in Racing Blue

The position of the steering wheel is ideal for me tbh. A lot of people sit far back with their arms straight. Watching YouTube me thinks 😂 I’m at Croft in Sept so I’ll feedback on the position, but so far everything seems just right for my style of driving 🤞🏻 TD have changed the wheels to a...

Restoring Little Bluey - my 182 FF ClioSport in Racing Blue

Lastly, the wind took the door out of my hand and it’s finished off the checkstrap pivot bolt. It wasn’t the best condition and I’d contemplated replacing it, but now it has an annoying knock/clunk which does my nut in. NLA from Renault but eBay has plenty of cheap Chinese knockoffs. Has...

Restoring Little Bluey - my 182 FF ClioSport in Racing Blue

Last couple of posts for today. Wheel dilemma and what to do. I’m of the opinion my car needs 15” wheels. Purely because it’s set up for circuit and 16” wheels bury themselves in the arches. I’ve priced up some X3MA Evo Corse, just a shade under £900 🫣 When you factor in road tyres (have to...

Restoring Little Bluey - my 182 FF ClioSport in Racing Blue

So a few pages back I’d restored the air box screws using a cold blueing technique. They’ve lasted about 18 months, so I’m going to try a new method. I’ll use the screws from the second hand air box as they’re minging. Plus in a year or so I can see how they hold up to corrosion. First job...

Restoring Little Bluey - my 182 FF ClioSport in Racing Blue

A few small, but annoying jobs ticked off today. First job was to replace the top of the air box which I noticed had been attacked by the previous owners (the mind boggles). Plus I noticed the screws which I’d restored have started to rust again. So much for cold blueing eh! I’d recently...

Organise New Meets For The NE

Not much happening around here, well Teesside area anyway. I’m aware of 4 Clio owners in my area, but never meet up. I’m a boomer so have grown out of hanging around Tesco carparks 😂 My mates have a Megane 250 now and we generally go to Croft, Nurburgring. We’re at Croft on 25th Sept. More...

Clio 182 - Oil leak under engine - Common Areas?

I had 4 leaks on my old engine, 3 of which I managed to fix myself. The most common one (I wasn't able to fix) is from the gearbox selector seal (in your first picture) which can only really be fixed by opening the gearbox. The other 3 I found were : 1. Thermostat housing gasket - oil running...

What to check first on a non-working cruise control (182)?

yeah, that's correct. You'll only get near the angle sensor if you take the steering wheel off. Sorry for any confusion.

    Ph1 revival

I think the level and standard at which you're working requires the engine out anyway. Very satisfying to get into all the nooks and crannies knowing it's as good as you can get it. Take your time and look forward to seeing it progress.

What to check first on a non-working cruise control (182)?

My last 182s cruise control never worked but my current RBs always did. When I sold the car I swapped the steering wheels over but now the RBs cruise works intermittently and throws up a DF235 fault code. So as @SharpyClio mentioned, it's possibly something to do with the steering wheel...

    Pearl Black 172 PH1

The top nut is only really there to stop the damper/spring from falling out when the car wheel is jacked up and off the ground. I have ASTs fitted to mine and am running the standard top mounts. Mine's worse than that.

Restoring Little Bluey - my 182 FF ClioSport in Racing Blue

Aw cheers fella. I have put a lot of time, thought and money into it, so I'm really chuffed with how it's tuned out. I know of a few followers who would have preferred it to stay factory after I first restored it, and I totally understand that, but I think this is better. If they saw it in...

Restoring Little Bluey - my 182 FF ClioSport in Racing Blue

Got my tyres back today so gave the TD Pro Race a test fit. So pleased with how it sits now. Near identical to my track car and rides just as badly on the road too 😫 Should be a hoot on circuit though. Still no PAS so CSF isn’t happening but I have a couple of days spare between now and...
