Ive seen that but interested in bearing clearances and a few other bits. I assume there is an F4R rebuild manual that has everything in, i have similar for a few other ren engines.
Good Morning all
Does anybody have a f4r engine rebuild manual? I need torque settings/sequences for big ends/mains, clearances etc. I only have the service manual and it does not cover much of the bottom end and struggling to find anything.
Ive been told its very similar from a good source. There is slight visual differences, meg250 coilpack securing bolt on number 1 cylinder faces towards flywheel so it can be unbolted easily with boost hose fitted, whereas 197 number 1 coilpack securing bolt faces towards cambelt same as 225...
Updates
Kangoo is now sorn due to poorly engine. Ive not really touched it since last post but have started gathering parts.
Have purchased a rebuilt megane bottom end. Spec is Wossner pistons stock c/r, pec conrods, new oem renault oil pump, gen renault main bearings, king big end bearings...
Pre mot update.
Cv boot done, hour of mess yesterday. Shaft out, good few choice blows to cv with large hammer and cv popped off. Note genuine renault cv boot in the background. Typically would not fit as aftermarket shaft and slightly bigger outer cv. So had to scrouge round and found a...
Id probably use a time sert instead of a helicoil. As above can be done in situ but ultimately head off is best.
If your not keen on doing it give this fella a call. He drilled out a glowplug for me and done a fantastic job. He does stuff like this all day long...
Updates
Blue dci due mot this week. Ive given it a pre mot check over and apart from a pinhole in passenger side cv boot it all looks decent and should pass without too much drama.
Done a few long ish runs in it and the mpg is even better on the £25 map. Went to gainsborough to pick up a...
Back to the project post.
Last post was around April 2021 and the suspension and brakes were completed, so at a guess this was late April / early May.
Next job on the list was to sort some minor paintwork to the front jacking points. The sill lip had been jacked up incorrectly cracking the...
Awesome views.
Had a great time and really enjoyed it noting almost 270miles and 3/4 of a tank of fuel used on the Sat. Ticked over 45k on the way back to Moggys.
This was largely a shakedown for the trophy as ive not really used it in anger too much so was hoping there would not be any little...
Trophy weekender 2022 update.
I had fancied doing the Trophy weekender for years after seeing all the pics from previous years. The problem is i did not actually have a trophy to do it in until recently, so the goal was always to take number 54 to the welsh mountains. Steve had always planned...
Bit of an interim update inbetween the project thread.
First wash since its been coated with gtechniq before csf. It was not really mucky, more dusty with a few bugs on the front and brake dust all over the front wheels. I didnt even need to contact wash the bodywork, BH snowfoam and rinse was...
Pretty normal to see 20-30deg higher oil temps than coolant when your driving it hard or on track. My oil temp has been going up fast with the higher ambient temps this summer.
Water temp gauge stays in the same place most of the time but in reality the coolant temp is up and down.
80-94deg oil temps pretty normal though on cruising, in normal weather. Id expect the oil to be within a few degrees of coolant temp when driving normally. 110deg is fine if driving quick...
A little bit more missy than normal but not horrific.
It will smooth out with raised idle of a/c.
Same issue with the megane 225 when injectors need changing, id stick a new set of injectors in if not already changed.
We all used to do just fine in the old cars with no abs, dont see what the panic is not having it. No problem for a good driver, shouldnt be relying on it to pull you out the s**t at the last minute regardless.
Suspension and stoppers.
Its still April 2021 and next job on the list was to fit the Northloopcup roll correction kit. This was a simple plug and play job so was a nice easy couple of hours work.
Hubs fitted.
Offered up the custom reyland rotor and bells to the Jamsport wilwood kit. Hit a...
Ive not got a kit for the clio or meg its on the list to buy. I was thinking about drilling an old header tank cap and fit a schrader valve like i used to do on the gtt's years ago and pump up with a foot pump or similar.
I dare say yours will be ok engine wise. Stick 1bar of pressure in the header tank that will find any external leaks. I was on the verge of pressuring this up but found it straight away when removing plug.
