Just done Oulton on AD08R'S in the wet and it was very cold and they were brilliant. The difference to the likes of RS3'S is that once a dry line appeared i could just keep going without worrying about melting them.
For a road tyre only though i wouldn't recommend as they do struggling in the...
In short my view is the RS3's are good in the wet, above average in the dry but will roll over and pi$$ all over themselves when really pushed, wear rate is the worst of any tyre I've ever used including track tyres, the jelly sidewalls give no feedback to the driver what so ever, when cold they...
I honestly don't see the point in running RS3's for 6k miles when you could just get a premium tyre like the conti and have them last twice as long and they are better in every single department and don't cost double the RS3.
They really don't like the cold weather in my experience, mine where lethal when down the 3mm on cold salty roads. TBF my new AD08R's aren't much better. The RS3's are great in the wet when not bitterly cold and I've done a few laps on track with them and found them pretty good, you cant do more...
Winner for January was @Tomotek so he gets to pick February's car and track which is:
Mclaren 650S GT3 at Imola
Guidelines:
1. At the start of each month a track and car are chosen by the driver with the fastest time from the previous month. If the same driver is fastest two months in a row...
Most recent update. So after buying the car back in Feb 16 with no proof of the belts being done and doing 10 tracks in it, I was really starting to push it so booked in with a local Renault specialist to have them done. So the Friday came around and I set off for work where I was going to leave...
So looking forward to this, won't be making the school boy error of getting slaughtered on the Friday this time! Ruined my Saturday night as i was a mess once off track in the afternoon.
@James are slicks allowed on track?
I've used front discs from MTECH without issue but it seems exactly the same issue as the article mate which is the rears, so yeah change them back and see if it disappears, I'm guessing it will.
Steering wheel angle sensor probably if you've changed the brake pedal switch. Mine does it every time I get in it, which is a good thing as the TC/ASR on the 182 is the worst safety device on a car I've ever experienced. I find it dangerous when really pushing one.
@Tomotek is the winner this month, with a great time of 1:.22.949 which was a near half a second quicker than 2nd place time of 1:23.401
So please pick your car and track for February and I'll set up a new thread.
I cant see us being able to run slicks, as even if its dry it will be greasy and cold. Last Feb was horrible as the track looked dry but was so greasy all day. Chance to test the new AD08R's though.
Back to a wet Aintree for the September track day, tired to book the intermediate sessions as mentioned above but they where full as were the novice so the expert session it was :fearscream:. This time I came armed with newly fitted (used) AST 4100 coilovers with full on race spec spring rates...
Blyton next in August for the CSF17. Booked the Friday off work and headed down with Mike following me in his van, was a bit of a trek in the Clio but we got there for the gates opening. We set the tents up and got the BBQ going with a few cheeky ones, which ended up turning into a full blown...
2 days later I was back at Oulton for their family fun day with a few lads from here..@JamesBryan @Danith @Niall.
No real changes apart from fitting Mintex M1155 front pads and a service. We had a right laugh though, we just did the PM sessions which where 20 minutes each. Good day as I brought...
Right Oh, up next a dry but overcast Aintree in May. No real changes to the car except going back to the CL5+ pads, car felt great and we decided next time we would move up a group to the intermediate as the standard of driving in the Novice was becoming a little dangerous, as there was a...
