This is my reply... im a novice so its probably wrong!!
The 55-200 is how far you can zoom. You can find charts that tell you how much. 55 is around 3x zoom. 200 is around 11.5 zoom ( i think)
The 2.8-5.6 is the aperture.
Say on a 55-200 2.8-5.6 lens
The 2.8 is the lowest aperture you can set...
Too complicated?! lol
The settings and menus are the same on the ixus 70 as they are on the 860.
Ixus 70 - my misses loves it as it fits in her tiny bag!!
Nice one, thats the Crumpler 'the that' bag, joint effort between Crumpler and Nikon. Hard to get hold of for a decent price! There was a shop on ebay that had them... but gone now! bugger!
Nikon D40 for me. Standard lens kit is very usuable. Have not heard anything good said about the 400d standar kit lens.
For £299 you cant go wrong. And 10mp? you dont need em. 6mp in an SLR is good enough.
Add £130 for the 55-200 VR lens and you have a lot of range covered for £430 which is...
My misses has my old Ixus 70 which gives fairly good results. The 'is' in the 860 is fairly decent though, you can really see its benefits in low light.
Saying that, the ixus 70 has given us some great shots with the flash... have some examples from the ixus 70 and 850is if you want to see them?
I am finding it hard to find the case I am after, especially as my local shops have nothing of any use!
After a shoulder bag that fits the SLR + 18-55 + 55-200.
Nothing much else as want something faily compact.
Any suggestions?
