With the metal ones, the thermostat can be changed separately. With the plastic, when the thermostat goes, the entire unit has to be replaced.

1) Have you check your outer steering ends? 2) How did you determined that the washer jet motor is defective? 3) Sounds like bearing. I am familiar with Dialogys 3.99.

Best bet is to replace the plastic housing with the aluminium one. Last longer. You will have to change the thermostat as the one in the plastic housing is molded on whilst the one for the aluminium housing can be changed separately. I think the position of the temperature sensor is changed as...
