After the 172 Cup I had a Suzuki Ignis Sport and the Clio 200. It wasn't until I bought my Fiesta ST that I felt I had something similar to the Cup. That's probably why I kept the ST for 4 years and did 60k in it. It just felt right...but with more torque.
Direct comparison? Tricky...two years...
This thread has made me want another one. Now.
Of all my cars I got rid of the 172 Cup is the one I'd buy back tomorrow, not the mk7 Fiesta ST, not the mk3 Focus RS, not the 2009 Clio 200, nope.
Genuinely, if my 172 Cup pulled up outside and the owner got out and asked if I wanted to buy it...
My car is going to look like new when this is all over! It's going to be a low mileage year...I'm more concerned that the 36 litres of fuel sat idle in the tank will have an octane rating slightly above tap water by the time I get to take it out again :ROFLMAO:
I've never had the GoPros instant start when power's applied, I'm not even sure you can.
Speed overlays I've always done myself with separate logging kit so can't advise there.
Cage mounting I've no experience of.
But, if windscreen mounting is an option, I recommend the Viofo A119C dashcam...
In a few weeks I'll have owned this longer than I did my RS. I've already covered 1,000 miles more, I absolutely love it. I've barred a few of the RS lingerers from the comments on my videos, it was getting so tiresome 😂
I forgot to say, HUGE thanks to @McGherkin for his time and experienced tips on how to approach the day and the runs.
I learned a massive amount on the day, I'm already planning the next one, how I can go faster, everywhere. I'm going to win it for real. For sure. :ROFLMAO:
Maybe.
My first ever AutoSOLO was last weekend and what a day it was. Apart from the odd light shower, the weather held off, and I got to find out how quickly I could go from lock to lock and back again, over and over and over again. These things are fun. I'm hooked.
Genuinely, I just can't be bothered, they'd highlight other things that need improving. I'm happy driving the car as it is, and the slight compromise on track on PS4s is more than made up with their on road performance.
Oh, and the Life 360 app works on iPhones too. I'm Android, the female contingent of my household use Apple, yet we can all track real time through the family group.
As @George@RTR_Parts says, pads, fluid, tyres, drive on track, enjoy, done.
I never changed the suspension on my 172 Cup during the 125k miles I had it from new and on track it never felt lacking in either fun or pace.
Yep. The only compromise I've found is ths super soft bendy sidewalls...and the only time that becomes an issues is hard on the brakes on track.
Otherwise, I can't fault them.
