The Epoxy Mastic phase will be the worse bit. I was covered in it and high as a kite for a week 😂 Lovely when it dries though, you’ll be able to go underwater with it.
I’d fill the small claims forms out just for giggles, watch him squirm a bit. And he’ll probably brick it when he gets the email - https://www.gov.uk/make-court-claim-for-money
A BMW shop assistant once held me up on the A66 one morning. I was a bit peed off as I had a meeting that morning...
You’ll have more chance finding hens teeth than getting a working steering angle sensor.
Seems like you’re prepared to stick with the car and not go for a refund. Again there’s no guarantee you’ll get a better car if you do get a refund unless you buy one from an honourable club member on here...
MOT day yesterday and of course it failed due to my own stupidity 🤬
Basically because of my insistence that my RB should be as OEM as possible, I declined to change the handbrake cables. I wouldn’t care I’d already bought 2 new ones from Borg & Beck but felt the originals were in decent nick...
:ROFLMAO:
Yes perfect when you got it there.
But this way there's no getting up early, lugging trailers around, taxing and insuring SUV's. Drive & Play!
And the verdict?
Edit - ignore as comments aboved appeared before mine 😄
I'll be watching these upgrades closely though as i think once the RB is on the road, the old BG needs upgrading for road/track use.
Yeah I agree. I completely restored mine keeping the original parts and replacing those that couldn’t be saved with genuine parts. Switching the Turini’s it came with for standard 182 wheels. Even has the original number plates 😊
Lately I’ve noticed a lot of Silver 182s on the groups in the hands of new owners. Paying pretty strong money for them as well. I love that colour, very underrated imho, but they’ve always been a lot cheaper, up until now it seems.
It would also appear Trophy owners are cashing in as well...
Not fully up to speed with Phase 1 prices as i have Mk2 182's. Doesn't sound that cheap to me tbh. No MOT, does it say what it failed on? Depending how anal you are, you can end up throwing thousands at these cars if they're poorly maintained - ask me how i know haha.
Then there's the...
You have to rub the Pro-am ones down anyway and paint because of the welds on the captive nuts. So good job saving the originals. Mine were completely shot.
Scary when you look at the crap that comes out of the chassis rails 😱 But at least you can sleep at night knowing it’s solid under there...
Literally just got round to watching your laps at Croft. Car seems so much better than last time you were out and love the different driving styles. I’m sure it’s just a case of jumping in, getting those pre-race nerves out of the way and putting some laps in.
Experience counts for everything...
Just thinking about the times my Clio Sports have never started and what the issues were.
Once when i removed the coil and forgot to stick that black plug back in. Another time when the TDC sensor was faulty. I put a new gearbox in and hadn't tightened the earth strap from the loom to the box...
Mine was a completely stripped out race car with original loom but no connections to headlights, airbags, boot sensors, air-con etc....Other than the usual airbag warning lights, everything behaved as it should and started without issue. Hopefully you'll get it fixed soon.
I splashed out and bought some new genuine Clio Sport mats for the 182. Normally retail for £64.80 but got a deal out of my local Renault garage for £52 all in. Feel really nice quality and fit pefectly as you'd expect. They have the Renault Sport logo too.
They also do them for the 197/200...
Busy times with work, house extension and selling off the race car, 4x4 and trailer. One of the benefits of OCD is when you come to sell things, its pretty easy.
Now left with only 2 cars, my BG and of course little Bluey.
Next up is the MOT, Aircon re-gas and geo set up.
Then it’s off to...
Put my race/track car, which i swore i'd never sell, on to somebody elses trailer last night and waved her off.
Got up this morning and wondered what the hell i've done.
Yeah. I can think of plenty of instances where my mates have joined me on a track day and broken their road going cars. Snapped exhaust at the cat, power steering pumps leaking, wheels coming off, tyres melting, to name but a few.
Booked my all day ticket. Probably won't make it like last time, as something always seems to pop up and scupper it. But it's worth paying £25 to support the club regardless as it's been an invaluable resource for me.
I'll be camping. No trackday as the track car went last night, so it'll be a...
Track car off the trailer ready to be collected tonight. Took one last shot of my Clio’s all together.
She was a lot of fun and somebody’s getting a cracking piece of track machinery. If I ever build another one it’ll be exactly the same as this.
Yeah it was mentioned above that he was. I'd find out if i was you. Make him repair it if he is or get your money back. Proper cars are hard to come by and generally stay with their owners for long periods of time. They do pop up from time to time and not all good ones cost the earth either.
Sorry to hear that. Is this guy a trader then?
If he is he's still liable as the law says a car sold must be ‘as described’. If he's a private seller then Caveat Emptor applies, but as a trader if he misleads a buyer or mis-sells a car, he could end up in court.
