Trackday booked for Saturday 10th March at Anglesey with Circuit days. Be good to drive Anglesey again, haven’t driven there since I raced the Leon there in 2008! Anybody local come and say hello. Will have a 16v Saxo testing as well.

Known Paul West at TDi north for years and wouldn’t let anyone else map it. Chris at EFi has done mapping for me on other cars previously though. He did my megane engine’d Clio 200.
Russ
So it survived the dyno.
Going to book some testing shortly, might have a trip over to Anglesey for a change. Just got to refit my oil cooler and change the oil and filter again + spanner check and alter the geo slightly and we’re ready to go.
Russ
Mounted on the bumper/grille at an angle with reinforcement behind. It’s ‘just’ strong enough to do the job and is the neatest idea I could come up with.
Excuse the state of the bumper!
Russ
She’s been outside again today.
She had a wash before it started to snow
The wet/road tyres are on, meaning it’s time to go and get mapped tomorrow!
Hopefully if it survives the rollers we’ll have another go at testing before the first race of the season.
In other news done a couple of...
Well Nicole’s alive again, again!
Runs well, takes throttle and drives ok so map hopefully isn’t too far off, a trip
To Paul @TDI North will sort that anyway.
Drove her outside, needs a good clean as she’s filthy but all good. Just gotta refit the oil cooler and put the proper oil in, needs...
Well plans are moving along, should get the replacement engine back in this weekend if I get my finger out.
Then the usual, mapping and shakedown before she’s ready to race.
Speaking of which I’ve registered for the TARC Tricolore series again but they’ve changed the calendar last minute so...
Class A is 260bhp per tonne inc driver and a decent 172/182 should be well under 900kg, mine is 845kg fuelled so you won’t need 260bhp to be at the class limit.

Still need to build it yet! There’s a cottage on the site currently that I’ll be demolishing to build a ‘decent’ sized house. The existing old forge will be converted into my garage for now which is effectively a triple garage. However I’ll be building a proper workshop/garage that actually will...
In a barn, far, far away!................
Started stripping Nicole, didn’t intend to get as far as I did. Got everything off the engine and ‘box to allow me to get it out of the car, fluids drained etc.
Only took me 3 hours from complete car to engine put and stripped down. Forgot how easy...
Not a lot going on, not touched the car since I blew it up. Have plenty of engines here now to build a new one(s) with. Think I’ve got 4 in total. Anyway, last pic from when she was running.
And now, tucked up in storage in the middle of nowhere as I’ve sold my house.
In other news, been...
Not even looked yet, hopefully get the engine on the stand at the weekend if I get time. I’m guessing it’s the combination of standard valves and too many revs.
Russ
It doesn’t mate, in an ideal world it would strengthen the mounting pints however I think there’ll always be more room for unwanted movement in the bush/bearing joint where the actual beam mounts to the mounting brackets anyway imo.

I was at croft on Sunday and saw it, thought I recognised the car from here. I think he spun and an E46 collected him. Looked bad but he had every intention of repairing it. Not a good day for the clios as I blew mine up aswell!
Russ
Well..........
It’s not gone well! Long story short it’s dropped a valve and wrecked the motor this afternoon.
Went well this morning no issues and properly quick, forgot how much I love driving it!
On the plus side I got my new pads bedded in and tyres scrubbed in! Just won’t get to use them...
Croft tomorrow for a shake down. Nothing excessive, scrub the Dunlop’s in, bed some new pads in and do some fuel consumption checks + mostly scare myself a little after not driving it for 2 years!
Gave her a wash earlier and got the cscc sticker kit fitted with my numbers.
All loaded up now and...
Yeah but as is the way now once the old guys retire it leaves a massive void. What used to be the normal standard for the old school guys becomes an exceptional standard for everyone else. That’s means the majority are then happy to do a normal job which is what you’d call sub standard years...
Anyway, been at Blink this afternoon. Turns out geo by eye wasn’t bad and I wasn’t far away! Didn’t even have it on our machine!
All geo’d and corner weighted. Car with approx (at least) 25 litres of fuel on board (18kg) weighed in at 865kg so we’re under 850kg dry. Think we’re a good 15kg...
Impact guns working on that as we speak! Will monitor the situation at croft see how it is, the guy that used to do my wheels always left the face/tapers bare but unfortunately he’s retired now.
Off to Blink Motorsport tomorrow to be corner weighted and geo’d. Be interested to see what she weighs now with a few improvements. Hopefully something near 850kg with fuel, fingers crossed.
New tyres fitted to dry wheels.
And on the car.
Sorted my other wheels out and marked them all...
