I don't know if it's common in other clubs but this particular club has always had a problem with it's members saying various clios are overpriced, when it's for the most part in our interest to try and keep the prices as high as possible.

I've been away for the past couple of weeks, so the clio has just sat in the airport car park. Came back to a dead battery, I'm hoping it's just a battery issue as it hasn't really been used since the start of the pandemic. Chucked a new battery in for what they cost and we'll see how it goes...

It's worth enquiring, that dealership (the one near Market Weighton I presume) is a strange old place. It's not a big chain I don't think, it looks and feels more like a family business when I've spoken to them, so they might be quite competitive.

Did Mick get back to you? I'd hold off ordering any parts until you've spoken to him tbh. Also if he supplies the parts and something fails then you can just take it back, worth the slight premium imo.

Is there any point in a cam cover reseal if it's not leaking, I've always thought it best to leave something that isn't leaking well alone?

On a 1*2 the water pump is easy enough to do later iirc, so you could leave that off. And back in my day no one seemed to get the dephaser pulley changed, now people change it at every belt change. But then for the sake of £200 it does remove some risk. Also might be worth getting a quote off...

I'd just go to Diamond Motors, parts plus the proper tools and the price isn't much different. It's a bit of a trek from North Yorkshire but you can make a day of it.
