Just put in a cheeky low ball offer on eBay. Someone was selling for £60 and had 1 left. I'm amazed he accepted tbh.

250gb. We use them at work on our pcs and they run smoothly. I can literally use Samsung magic and the hdd dock to transfer all the info from one to the other and then just plug the new ssd in without having to do another fresh install of windows to.

Just managed to source a Samsung 850 ssd for £40 delivered

Seems ok now. I'm going to get an ssd and use the hdd I have now in place of the CD drive. Will run the OS and a few other programs from the ssd and have all pictures etc on the hdd. Is that a common thing to do?

I have perm disabled it mate. Seems to have been one of the issues so just left it turned off.

Right, I have left it on all day and not touched it, let it do it's thing and now it all seems back to normal. It must have just had a MASS of updates to do which was causing the disk drive to go mental. Either way, I think I'm going to drop an ssd into it to save having to go through this ever...
